A clash of two potential stars is the highlight of today’s excellent meeting at The Gardens, where Reg Kay’s Swap State, the winner of six races from only nine starts will do battle with the unbeaten Lochinvar Lee.
Lochinvar Lee, trained by Robert Smith looked to be something special when winning on debut in a fast 29.83. The son of Just The Best and Knockabout Wilma will take a lot out of his first start, looking very raw with the most impressive part of his race being the closing section, with Lochinvar Lee racing away from his opposition to score by six and three quarter lengths.
State State is more seasoned and sensationally won last Friday at The Gardens when stepping up to the 515 metre distance, clearing out to win by seven and a quarter lengths in a sizzling 29.59. Kay has a big opinion of the exciting sprinter and he will be aiming him at the Group Two Peter Mosman Classic at Wentworth Park in June.
Lochinvar Lee and State Swap are set to go ‘toe to toe’ in race three, the Greyhoundproductdirect.com.au Stake, which is due to run at 4.38pm AEST
Another Highlight of today’s card will be the appearance of Velocity Wind in race six, the second heat of the Greyhound Recorder series. the Jason MacKay trained galloper finished down the track behind Swap State last Friday, but was dragged down when going to the front on the first turn.
The daughter of Collision and Lankan Hope was heavily supported after trialling brilliantly in preparation for last week’s run, and her champion Richmond Vale mentor will be looking to set record straight today.
You can bet libe on tonight’s bumper meeting at The Gardens at Sportsbet or Iasbet, with the first race of the twilight program scheduled to kick off at 3.59pm AEST
