Quality Fields For Goulburn Workers Club Cup Heats

Four heats of the Goulburn Workers Club Cup take place on Tuesday afternoon with the final taking place on Sunday. Two greyhounds from each heat will progress to the final. Goulburn is a one turn track with the run over a distance of 457 metres.

Goulburn Cup Heat One (Race 5 at 4:04pm)

There's plenty of speed about in this first heat. will make the trip from Victoria with handy bitch Veetee Express (Box 1). The Black Enforcer ex. Keep Cool bitch has won 13 from 33 and is a last start winner at over 500 metres in a best of the day 28.21. She loves box one, starting two times from the box for two wins. Ay Grade (Box 3), for , has some fast wins to his credit including a 25.52 at Goulburn over the 457 metres. He has plenty of experience at the track and distance, starting six times for two wins, two seconds and a third. He is a last start Bulli winner over 472 metres in a quick 26.33. He is a big danger in the race.

Goulburn specialist Black Daddy (Box 6) will be hoping his love of the track will see him through to the final. His four career wins have all been at Goulburn. The black dog by Big Daddy Cool ex. Spooky has only faced the starter 10 times and it will be a test to see how he handles the rise in class against more experienced dogs. He needs luck early as he has been unable to recover in races where he has struck early trouble. His best time at the track is 25.74.

Ruth Matic always produces good chances in the Goulburn Cup and has Hurricane Gando (Box 4) engaged here. The greyhound has only been racing over the shorts at and Goulburn in recent times and despite not winning since July, has been running plenty of placings. The Hurricane Luke ex. Muskerry Belle dog has won over the 457 metre distance in 25.70 and is capable of a good show.

Of the others, Mister Wentworth has plenty of early toe and some form from outside boxes. He's had one start at the track and distance for a 25.83 win. Irish Sapphire (Box 2) is capable of running time on his day with a best time of 25.67 at Goulburn.

Goulburn Cup Heat Two (Race 6 at 4:29pm)

Prolific winner Irinka Luca (Box 8) is having his having his first start at the Goulburn track. He looks to be a dog that prefers to be drawn inside but he will get plenty of room from the eight box at Goulburn. The ex. Sussudio has 22 wins to his name so can't be overlooked.

The likely favourite for the race will be 's Knocka's Return (Box 1). The red brindle and white dog by ex. Winning Shiraz has superb form on one turn tracks with fast wins at Bulli and including a 26.16 win over the 472 metre trip at Bulli and 25.05 over 450 metres at Maitland. He's not always the best away at box rise but musters speed quickly and has two wins from three starts out of the box. He hasn't raced at Goulburn before but the track will suit. Wilcox also has littermate Natural Player (Box 9) drawn as a reserve. If he should get a start, he's a chance. He has won 10 from 13 and flown over the Bulli 400 metres in 22.42.

Trendy Tia (Box 2) is a versatile smart bitch who can run fast time on the bunny. She is a Wentworth Park winner and has won twice at this track, including a personal best 25.50. She is a big chance of making the final. Booze Hound (Box 4) is a good sprinter over the shorts and is a last start winner over the 457 metre distance in 25.73. Hurricane Surry (Box 3) is also in with a chance with some early luck and has won here in 25.69.

Goulburn Cup Heat Three (Race 7 at 4:50pm)

Lachlan Bomber (Box 7) is perfectly boxed out wide and loves Goulburn. He is clearly the one to beat in this heat. He's had three starts at the track for two wins and a place and has run 25.69. He's approaching peak fitness after three starts back from an injury enforced spell.

Dynamite Charlm (Box 8) is a multiple sub 30 Wentworth Park winner. She is having her first start at Goulburn and has done the majority of her racing on two turn tracks. She is clearly talented but it is hard to gauge how she will go on the one turn track. The tiny Lil Miss Sparkle (Box 1) has won her last two starts and she possesses the early speed to lead this race. With 15 wins to her credit from a short 28 start career she has to be considered. She hasn't started at Goulburn before but has won over the 400 metres at Maitland. There's plenty of strong finishers in the race so she will need to show her customary dash to try and put a big enough gap between her and the run on dogs.

Rock Pepper (Box 5) is another bitch with good early speed. She also possesses strength at the end and has won here in 25.86. Dawn Know Best (Box 3) returns to her happy hunting ground here at Goulburn. She has three wins from five starts and has recorded a best time of 25.75. She has been racing around Bulli, Nowra and Wentworth Park in recent times and should appreciate the return back to Goulburn. The only query is that she has never won a race from the box and appears better suited out wide.

Goulburn Cup Heat Four (Race 8 at 5:11pm)

This is a hard race to get a good gauge on as the majority of starters have not raced at Goulburn over the distance. Mark Wilcox produces another from the Knocka Norris ex. Winning Shiraz litter who has brilliant form on one turn tracks. Highly Respected (Box 3) has had 10 wins from 21 starts and has won at both Bulli and Maitland in fast times. He loves the inside draws and should prove hard to beat if he is up there in the early stages.

Dual Aces (Box 4) and Vee String (Box 5) have both got fast wins to their name over the 350 metre trip at Goulburn. Vee String is the more consistent beginner of the two and is a last start winner at Bulli in 22.44. Trainer will have the black bitch by Vee Man Vane ex. Gibbo Gold well prepared for the race.

Paul Anderton has Greysynd Jet (Box 8), a littermate to Anderton's earlier heat runner Veetee Express. The black bitch has raced at Goulburn a handful of times for two wins and two places with a best time of 25.61. She has been doing her recent racing in tougher class down in Victoria and is a recent Sandown winner in 29.64. She has won twice from this outside box and can't be discounted. Charlm Road (Box 7) also has his fair share of ability. His best form is from inside boxes and he will have to be taken on trust.

There's no doubting some smart times will be run here in these heats and the final of the Goulburn Cup is sure to be made up of a quality field.
