GRSA officials had hoped to run the meeting, however following yesterday’s extreme conditions it was considered dangerous to the welfare of the greyhounds.
The Bureau of Meteorology has advised that conditions today are likely to be similar to yesterday when the temperature reached nearly 46 degrees. Of most concern to officials was that yesterday the temperature at 7.00pm was still 43 degrees and was around 38 degrees at 10.00pm.
The Macro Meats Juvenile Series will now be run as a Final only next Thursday, with the greyhounds selected from the sixteen greyhounds listed in the two heats on a Best 8 basis.
The Southern Greyhound Raceway has also advised that tomorrow night’s (Friday) Strathalbyn trials have been cancelled due to the heat.
