Sale Cup Hands Dyna Nalin A Third Group One Victory

picked up his third race after securing victory in the One Gold 1242 2013 , again proving that class always rises to the top. Remarkably, it was his first win over a middle distance event. Prior to tonight’s victory, Dyna Nalin had four starts over middle distances (595-650) and had run second in all of them.

The Cup final was an exciting race, with three or four dogs looking the winner at various stages throughout the race. When the lids opened, reliable beginner Noaki Spitfire (2) led the field into the first turn and down the back straight.

The race favourite Phenomenal (7) was jammed early and bounced off Born Ali (5) trying to cross to the rails. Dyna Willow (8) stayed out of trouble out wide and crossed into second at the turn, with Phenomenal up into third. Dyna Nalin (6) was back in seventh at this stage after being one of the last dogs past the post the first time.

Phenomenal started his run down the back straight and after going underneath Dyna Willow, he was quickly after Noaki Spitfire. However, Phenomenal didn’t show the best track sense, running right up the back of Noaki Spitfire and costing himself valuable . Dyna Willow was still in touch at this stage and chose the outside running, while Dyna Nalin had moved into fourth position along the fence.

As Noaki Spitfire and Phenomenal checked, Dyna Nalin pounced underneath them and was handed a clean run along the rails into the home stretch. Phenomenal kept trying but just couldn’t catch Dyna Nalin up the home straight, to be defeated by one and a quarter lengths in 37.26. Dyna Willow was a nose behind Phenomenal in third. Lucy Wires (4) rattled home for fourth, but as foreshadowed in the race , the race was just a little too short for her.

of Nambeelup trains the black son of Ashom Bale-Tally Bale, and after this win in the Sale Cup, Dyna Nalin’s tally now exceeds $500,000.
