Schroder Bale Stuns In Maturity Classic Semi

Champion trainer looks to have another group race victory in clear sight after Schroder Bale's fantastic in the first semi-final of the group one Hudson Pacific at The Meadows on Saturday night. The dazzling black and white chaser was the first away as the lids sprung open however was soon joined by Back Magic Opal with former NSW sprinter taking up the early lead. After giving a start, Schroder Bale quickly put his mind to the task and dashed past the son of in the run out of the back straight to score an emphatic victory in a best of night 29.82 seconds. Running a gallant race in second position was Marcus Joe who will also head through to the $100,000 to the winner decider for Barry Moloney.

Filling the placings was Kiss Me Ketut whilst Black Magic Opal faded to finish a dismal fourth in a less than impressive demonstration after leading.

Schroder Bale has been a model of consistency throughout his career with the Maturity the sixth group final for the dog. Whilst there is there is no question about his talent, Schroder Bale has always found another dog too strong in each decider with his best effort to date a close second behind kennelmate Xylia Allen in the group one Peter Mosman Classic at in June. It is now becoming apparent that Schroder Bale is developing immensely with age and is showing great improvement with each start on the track. This was an observation picked up by punters who sent him to the boxes as the $2.90 favourite on Saturday night.

The second semi-final was definitely the run of the night and potentially the whole Maturity series with Dyna Nalin putting in a brilliant performance when coming from behind to clinch a deserved win. Beginning only fairly from box six, the black powerhouse was shuffled towards the back of the field as runners accelerated towards the first turn. Down the back Dyna Nalin was still in third last position but showed tremendous strength to wear down his opponents, looming ominously on the home turn before shooting away to cross the line three lengths ahead of Hawk Alone in a slick 29.89 seconds.

Trained in Western Australia by Paul Stuart, Dyna Nalin is starting to put together a very impressive record with twenty two wins and six minors from just thirty three starts. Included in those wins was a victory in the group one Perth Cup at earlier this year where he defeated one of the hottest fields to face the starter for the event in recent memory. The group triumph not only added $140,000 to the dog's bank account but also firmly positioned him as one of the state's most promising youngsters with his talent now astonishing racegoers and competitors in the Eastern States.

The third semi-final was a one act affair with Hoover Jack jumping from the cherry and landing straight on the bunny. The trained greyhound was able to push through along the rails when pressured from out wide in the early stages and once he edged clear past the post on the first occasion he never looked in danger. The son of Go Wild Teddy defeated what was arguably the toughest field of the night including Blaster, Tomac Bale, Quiz Bale and Xylia Allen and in the process made it the third semi-final to break the elusive 30 second barrier when clocking a slick 29.99 seconds.

Running a good second was Angela Langton's Heidi Go Seek who had to overcome trouble to earn her spot in this week's feature.
Hoover Jack went into the semi-final paying a generous $5.00 after his handy third behind Farmor Las Vegas in his heat. Moving back to the rails was a definite advantage for the 35 kilogram speedster who used box one to perfection to score his fifteenth win from thirty appearances.

The fourth and final qualifier went to Troy Iwanyk's up and coming youngster Crump. By Superman, Crump began midfield from box three but quickly worked himself into a prominent position behind Allen Makoto. Once the trained chaser was in his sights, Crump showed tenacity to work his way up on the outside of the rails runner, before crossing him and stretching out in the straight to score decisively in 29.92 seconds.

It was the twelfth win for the black dog on Saturday night who has only faced the starter on nineteen occasions whilst it was almost three tenths off his personal best of a scintillating 29.68 seconds over the track and distance. An eye catching run in the race was Graeme Bate's Langi Bale who was a clear last going past the post the first time however managed to fight her way into second position and as a result, next week's group one final.
