Skywalker Puma Wins Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby In Fastest Final Ever
Skywalker Puma won the Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby on Saturday night in Shelbourne Park, as he ran to victory in 29.39, the fastest Derby Final win over 550yds.
Owned by Raymond Patterson in Devon, Skywalker Puma is trained by Frances O’Donnell in Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Frances, who is a sister of last year’s winning trainer, Dolores Ruth, celebrated a fourth Derby win for the O’Donnell household with trainer husband, Matt.
A massive crowd of over 6,000 people were in Shelbourne Park for the Final, which was worth €120,000, plus trophy to the winner. Skywalker Puma is a son of Royal Impact and Dianas Ranger, bred by Paddy Purtill from Kerry.
