Solo Fernando is enjoying a remarkable resurgence, claiming his third consecutive win in the Masters event at Maitland on Monday night at very short $1.30 odds with the top online bookmakers.

The four-year-old veteran, trained and owned by Logan Howden, delivered a dominant five-length victory, stopping the clock in a career-best 22.19 seconds over 400m.

Having now won five of his last seven starts, with a third and a fourth place finish along the way, Solo Fernando is proving age is just a number.

His recent success at Gosford and Maitland has seen him post some solid times, including 22.01 and 22.26 at Gosford before his best-ever over the 400m at Maitland.

3/2/25 Matialnd Race 11 – Solo Fernando (22.19)

Solo Fernando’s journey has been anything but conventional.

With five trainers over his career, he has found new life under Howden’s care, thriving in Masters company.

Howden, a young trainer with less than a year’s experience, has developed a special bond with Solo Fernando, ensuring the well-travelled racer is happier than ever.

Living in Howden’s home rather than a kennel, Solo Fernando enjoys a comfortable life alongside his best mate, Cleo, a three-year-old French Bulldog.

Despite being a seasoned competitor, the black son of Fernando Bale and Sheez My Chicki continues to find new gears and defy expectations.

His Masters success has been a perfect late-career move, with Howden confirming the dog will continue to target these races.

With his competitive spirit still burning strong, Solo Fernando is proving to be one of the feel-good stories of the season, showing that champions can shine at any stage of their career.
