Star Recall Claims The 2014 Sandgroper Final

Exciting sprinter Star has taken out the 2014 Sandgroper Final over the 490 metre distance in a 27.32; giving trainer her third Sandgroper title.

The trained Sissoko flew out of box five to lead the WA bred field. Star Recall camped in second position on the rails from the red box, waiting to make her run. As the pair matched strides entering the home straight Star Recall made a last minute dash at the line to snatch the victory from Sissoko, who held on to run second. Bekim Maxim put in a noteworthy performance running third. From box four he was able to squeeze his way through the field to sit behind the leading duo.

The daughter of – No Recall made victory her fifth win from eight starts for owner Kevin Dover, who generously gave a share in his speedy sprinter to his daughters for Christmas. They carried away their winner's trophy and white Sandgroper rug with a smile from ear to ear.

Kevin Dover was offered Star Recall as a pup from Linda Britton after his race dog Tempted fell ill from an unknown bite. After spending time at the vets, with a chance he wasn't going to live through the ordeal, Tempted pull through and has been back mixing it with the best of 's short course chasers. Tempted was unable to get the double win for Dover, finishing fourth on night after missing the kick and finding trouble throughout. Tempted is now off to try his luck in Sydney for new trainer Emily Frazer.
