Star sprinter Miss Envy scratched from Australian Cup & Temlee

Star sprinter Miss Envy has been withdrawn from the upcoming Group 1 Australia Cup series and, as a result, will also miss The Temlee.

The decision comes as co-trainer Steve Shinners confirmed the talented chaser is still dealing with an ongoing toe issue.

“Her toe issue is ongoing and it won’t be right by Monday to trial at ,” Shinners told Jason Adams.

“She may have been alright for Week 2, but with the need to be going around in Week 1 to advance it’s just all too soon. When taking on the best, you can’t afford to not be 110%.”

Despite the setback, Miss Envy’s camp remains optimistic about her return to the track, with major upcoming races still in sight.

“Her next target might be the followed by the Sandgroper – we’ve already had interest from slot holders,” Shinners added.

Currently Miss Envy sits as the $5 favourite with Neds Bookmaker to claim The Sandroper (520m) at .

Miss Envy’s absence leaves a significant void in the , where she was among the early favourites with the top greyhound bookmakers.

The in-form bitch has built an impressive career, boasting 15 wins from 23 starts and over $243,000 in prize money.

Her most recent outing saw her finish a close second to her sister La Sagrada in the Group 2 Bogie Leigh Futurity Final at Albion Park, reinforcing her status as one of Australia’s top sprinters.

The opening night of the at The Meadows, featuring the Group 1 Temlee, Zoom Top, and the heats, is set for Saturday, February 8.

Miss Envy was as an $11 chance for the Temlee and $16 for the Australian Cup with the top betting sites before her withdrawal.

While her absence will reshape the betting markets, the focus now turns to her recovery and return, with connections hopeful she can make a major impact in Western Australia in the Perth Cup and the Sandroper.
