Stars Line Up For 2010 Golden Easter Egg
Some of the country’s best sprinters have already booked their spots in the 2010 Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg at Sydney’s iconic venue Wentworth Park.
The series will officially begin this Saturday night with the first of two Prelude programs, featuring two of NSW’s most exciting sprinting prospects in Goodesy and Tuiaki.
As the battle for a berth in the richest free entry greyhound race in the world heats up, there are a number of established stars already fine tuning for the big event.
Among the sport’s big names already qualified for the Group One spectacle include recently crowned Victorian Greyhound of the Year and Paws Of Thunder winner Cindeen Shelby, National Derby hero Elite Blue Size, Adelaide Cup winner Dyna Lachlan and Bulli Gold Plate victor Goodesy.
International competitors are set to make their presence felt with a couple of Irish greyhounds to come under the care of master Victorian trainer Darren McDonald.
The 2010 Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg will be second only to the Irish Derby in terms of stakes on offer for a single greyhound race. The long-term agreement with Macro Meats has allowed the Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg to become Australia’s richest race.
NSW Greyhound Breeders Owners and Trainers Association Execeutive Officer Brenton Scott said he is looking forward to the Preludes signalling the countdown to the $250,000-tothe- winner final.
“We are grateful for the support of Managing Director and Founder Ray Borda and Macro Meats and the contribution his company will make to the Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg,” he said.
Greyhound Racing NSW Chief Executive Brent Hogan added: “We are hoping the Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg will become a truly global event.
“The interest generated in the 2010 series has prompted a response from overseas and we look forward to seeing how they shape up against our elite sprinters.”
