The 2012 Group 3 Coffex Coffee SA Oaks was won by local South Australian bitch, Hope's Up, in terrific fashion last Thursday after leading from start to finish. Trained by Cameron Butcher, the win was the first by an SA Bred greyhound since the introduction of Group race super-bonuses in July 2011..
Hope's Up was bred by Alan McCulloch at his Strathalbyn property in the Adelaide Hills and he was very enthusiastic about the $3,500 super-bonus he received.
“It was a terrific win for Cam and Yvonne as they've really brought the best out in Hope's Up; they've got her going really well. I'm also pretty happy with the super-bonus as it does encourage our industry to get back into breeding and provides great reward for the hard work that breeders put in. It certainly makes a difference when we think about trying to get dogs to the track” Alan said.
