Thompson Claims Three Temlee’s In A Row With Fedex

Leading trainer has achieved the incredible feat of training three 1 Macro Meats Temlee winners in a row after powered to victory to defeat an outstanding field of chasers in the feature race at on Saturday night.

Fedex – who finished second in last year's race behind champion sprinter – sat behind early leader High Earner and finished too strong, scoring in 30.06 over the 525-metre journey. The middle distance runners clashed in the Group 2 Macro Meats Rookie Rebel, with Flash Of Light doing right by favourite punters to score over kennelmate Aint Workin for husband and wife training duo Mark and Lisa Delbridge. The daughter of and Trendy La Maze scored in 34.48 over the 600-metre trip.

Eight heats of the Group 1 MTD Australian Cup were also run on the night, with the highlight coming after Heather's Tiger burnt up the track to win in an outstanding 29.67, just .07 outside Turanza Bale's track record over the 525 metres. The eight heat winners will join the 56 seeded greyhounds in next Saturday's MTD Australian Cup semi-finals. The Group 1 final – worth $150,000 to the winner – will be run on February 27.
