Unleash Collinda reigns supreme in National Straight Track Championship Final
Unleash Collinda delivered another thrilling battle against its key rival, Maybe Yesterday, securing victory in the Group 3 National Straight Track Championship Final held at Healesville on Saturday.
Trained by Jason Thompson, Unleash Collinda participated in the 350m contest and entered as a $2.80 favourite among top greyhound bookmakers.
Right from the start of the feature race, with a $28,000 prize for the winner, Unleash Collinda surged ahead, closely followed by Maybe Yesterday, trained by Andrew Paraskevas ($2.20).
Unleash Collinda triumphed over Maybe Yesterday with a one-length lead, while Jason Magri-trained Oscar Moses ($21.80) secured the third spot. The winning time was 18.90 seconds.

In the previous race, Unleash Collinda narrowly outpaced Maybe Yesterday by half a length, reclaiming the crown after Maybe Yesterday's back-to-back victories.

The pedigree of Unleash Collinda is The Beast Unleashed x Audacious Bell. With 33 wins and 11 placings from 51 career starts, the dog has earned $162,375 in prize money for its connections. Notably, Unleash Collinda has excelled in group events, including a victory in the Sportsbet Emerald Final on March 12, as well as runner-up positions in the Group 2 Shepparton Cup Final and Group 2 Ballarat Cup Final.
Looking ahead, Handler Thompson is confident in Unleash Collinda's continued success as the star kennel prepares for its next challenge. Thompson affirmed, “He will be back in action next week, competing in the heats of the Healesville Cup.”
