Quinlan Bale runs quickest in 2023 Group 2 Healesville Cup heats

Quinlan Bale has fastest for the 2023 Group 2 .

In a show of speed and agility, Quinlan Bale emerged as the fastest greyhound to qualify for the final from the five Healesville Cup heats that took place on Sunday.

Racing in the opening heat, Quinlan Bale took control of the race early and gave nothing else a chance, storming up the Healesville straight to win by 6.36 lengths in 18.99.

The Daniel Gibbons-trained son of Feral Frank and Ethla Allen finished second behind Sacred Stance in the 2022 Group 2 Healesville Cup and will be looking to go one better next weekend in the final.


The Andrew Paraskevas-trained Maybe Yesterday qualified second fastest for next Sunday's Group 2 $55,000 to-the-winner final, winning heat 3 in 19.06.

Maybe Yesterday, by Bernardo out of Eye Will Reign, most recently finished runner-up in the 2023 Group 3 National Straight Track Championship at Healesville behind Unleash Collinda, beaten less than a length.


The pre-post favourite with greyhound betting sites to win the Healesville Cup final was Unleash Collinda, and the Jason Thompson trained 2023 National Straight Track Champion did not disappoint, winning the second heat of the cup in 19.11.

Gunai Bold is a Healesville specialist, having won seven of nine races up the Healesville straight.

The son of and Gunai Gossip will be racing in his first Group 2 race final after a 28 start career that has netted 16 wins and six placings.


The box draw for the $55,000 to-the-winner Group 2 Healesville Cup final was undertaken trackside after the five heats, and has delivered a field that has seen the main contenders maintain favouritism with greyhound bookmakers after Unleash Collinda drew box three, and Maybe Yesterday and Quinlan Bale drew the outside.
