Untapped is ready for her 70th career start, with trainer Dusty Drew tossing up between a Sydney Cup heat or a run at a track she has never seen before.

Drew has never been afraid to admit that his classy bitch is a race-to-race prospect, but he also said retirement talks have been taken off the table for now.

“She keeps pulling up well and you could look at her the day after and you would not be able to tell she has been around,” he said.

“She will more than likely run in a heat of the Sydney Cup.

“Or we may take her to Angle Park, where she has never been before.”

In her last start on August 30, she returned to the track after a five-week break and served up a tough run to win a 660m contest at Ballarat.

Untapped – Ballarat, August 30

She beat home Bale and Raven Owl by a length, in a time of 38.0, after running down the leader in the finish.

“She was really tough in that run,” Drew said.

“She had been away for five weeks after getting a whack in the eye in that final of the Fireball.

“It took a little while to get her right again, but she did well for us and that win shows.”

In the 3 Fireball Final on July 22, she lined up as a $4.10 race favourite and finished last due to the injury caused in the run.

She had won the heat a week prior, beating home and Boom Lateral by one and a quarter lengths.

Untapped is a winner, taking out the Cup last year over the 715m when beating Jarick Bale and by a length.

The x Mepunga Fame bitch has 19 wins and 23 placings from 69 career starts, earning $319,640 in prize money for connections.

With a great career on track from Untapped, her trainer said the decision will be up to her to retire.

“When it's time for her to give it up, she will tell me, and we will call time,” Drew said.
