Victorian Greyhound Awards Night revised due to budget cuts

Victorian Greyhound Awards night revised as part of industry cost reduction

Greyhound (GRV) has announced a plan for the 2023–24 Victorian Greyhound Awards ceremony.

There is set to be a more modest awards presentation at Park on Thursday, August 8th, in place of the annual Gala event.

This change is part of GRV's efforts to cut costs and is in line with organisational adjustments and prize money changes.

“Given the challenging financial climate facing the industry, it's neither appropriate nor financially prudent to proceed with this year's Victorian Greyhound Awards night in its previous format.

“Instead, we will hold a revised, scaled-down presentation night, which will recognise the stars of the sport from the past season and also allow for a detailed assessment of the awards night and how the event can best represent the industry going forward.

“We thank everyone for their understanding as GRV continues to adjust its operational expenditure in the current climate,” said GRV chief executive officer .

The updated awards night is set to coincide with the state finals of the .

Some yearly awards will be given out during the event, while others will be acknowledged but not physically handed out during the event.

The remaining awards are set to be postponed until 2025.
