Power And Glory wins 2025 Golden Easter Egg in record time
Power And Glory etched his name into greyhound racing folklore on Saturday night, producing a breathtaking all-the-way performance to claim the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg Final at Wentworth Park in a race-record 29.15.
For trainer Ken Burnett, it was a moment of redemption and emotion as the son of Hooked On Scotch and Kwong Magic finally delivered on his immense potential.
After numerous Group placings and bad luck in feature races, the $6.00 chance with the top greyhound bookmakers exploded from box six, surged into second behind early leader Lakeview Emily, and swept to the front before the home turn.
From there, it was a battle of nerves as Jungle Johnny stormed home late, but Power And Glory dug deep to secure his most prestigious win yet, scoring by 1.25 lengths with Lakeview Emily holding third from Kisses For Gran.

The win was particularly special for owner Jeff Eastburn, who was in hospital recovering from major surgery but carried a photo of his champion into the operating theatre.
Burnett, joined on track by his partner Mandy and sons, dedicated the win to Jeff and spoke emotionally about the team effort behind the scenes.
“He’s been such a good dog for us… we’ve always believed in him, and tonight he showed everyone what he’s made of,” Burnett said post-race.
Power And Glory’s record now stands at 15 wins from 28 starts, with career earnings climbing above $386,000.
The win also capped off a red-hot three-week run, following back-to-back wins in his heat and semi-final in 29.93 and 29.23 respectively.
Now a Group 1 champion and the fastest ever Golden Easter Egg winner, Power And Glory joins a list of legends including Fernando Bale, Tommy Shelby, and She’s A Pearl.
Burnett and his family are yet to decide on the next step for their star chaser — but on the strength of Saturday’s win, the sky truly is the limit.
