Sunset Frazier confirmed for The Phoenix 2024 at The Meadows
Dave Hobby’s talented sprinter Sunset Frazier has been selected by Total Container Solutions as their representative for The Phoenix at The Meadows on December 21.
The $1 million Group 1 race promises to be a showstopper, and Sunset Frazier’s inclusion underscores his standing as one of the top greyhounds in Australia.
Sunset Frazier, trained by Jeff Britton in Victoria, has built an impressive career with 16 wins from 34 starts, amassing over $341,000 in prize money.
His blistering speed was on full display during his heat win at the G1 Melbourne Cup, where he set a record-breaking second section time at Sandown Park.

Despite a heavy fall at the first turn in the Melbourne Cup final on November 30, Sunset Frazier has recovered well and is gearing up for his Phoenix debut.
Precautions were taken to ensure Sunset Frazier’s readiness, including x-rays, blood tests, and veterinary checks, which cleared him for competition.
There was no lameness detected, but these steps were conducted to ensure his fitness.
To prepare for the challenge, Sunset Frazier will trial at The Meadows twice before race day to familiarize himself with the track.
Sunset Frazier’s track record includes victories in the Group 2 Black Top, a runner-up finish in The Sandgroper, and third place in this year’s Million Dollar Chase.
With these performances, he has established himself as a formidable competitor on the national stage.
Total Container Solutions made their selection following a close decision between Sunset Frazier and Million Dollar Chase winner Blue Kermaro, ultimately choosing Frazier due to his standout performance in the Melbourne Cup heat.
Currently listed at $9 by the top greyhound bookmakers, Sunset Frazier is considered a strong contender for The Phoenix.
Meanwhile, one slot remains unfilled as the Melbourne Storm continues to deliberate on a replacement for Rinsed the Lot, who was withdrawn due to injury.
