Wentworth Park tips

Winter heats up at Wentworth Park with the finals of the Group 1 Peter Mosman Opal for the girls and the Group 1 Vic Peters Memorial for the boys this Saturday night. There are nine other top-class greyhound races on the program, with the first set to begin at 6:29pm AEST. Australian Racing Greyhound has looked over the fields and tried to find you a couple of winners, including our top picks for the features.

Peter Mosman Opal Final: Canya Sapphire (2)

Canya Sapphire loves Wentworth Park and does her best work when drawn near the fence, and she looks to get the perfect draw in the final. Coast Rig is the fastest dog early in the race and should lead, but she will have some strong ones chasing her. Eriza Sparkles ran the best time of the night in the heats and could be the major danger if she can cross Coast Rig before the first turn. Zipping Chetty and Zipping Ariel are very strong and rough hopes if there is a mix up.

Vic Peters Memorial Final: Cumbria Benny (1)

Cumbria Benny did everything right and set a new personal best in his heat. In the red rug, he is drawn to get a perfect run and lots of cover from Taw Major and Nigel Devere. Box eight will suit Destroying, and while he will need a touch of luck early, he can certainly run down Cumbria Benny. The brothers Keeping, Allan and Robert, have both been missing the kick of late — but if they begin to the best of their ability, either one could lead and be a real chance.

Race 2: Foreign Capital (4)

Foreign Capital was having his second run back from a six-month spell when he absolutely destroyed a top-class field at Bulli by seven lengths in fast time on June 10. Victor Sultana has a big wrap on this boy, who has five wins and three placings from nine attempts here and a scorching 29.37 personal best. Box four is the only concern, but he has the class and ability to overcome the tricky draw.

Race 4: You Never Lose (8)

You Never Lose was having only his second run back from a long break when he was run down in the shadows of the post by the strong Talk About Class last start. He will take great benefit from that full 520m run and should improve on the 29.77 he ran last week. There should be room to move early as Poco Rico heads hard for the fence, giving You Never Lose the space to go straight to the lead and hold them off this time.
