The Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club is one of the top regional racing tracks in Victoria, where patrons can enjoy bar and catering facilities with undercover comfort and off-street parking. $10 per trial, Pen trials $5 per dog for a half field trial, and $20 for a solo pen trial.
No person is allowed to enter the Lure exclusion Zone (The lower half of the track) while the lure is running faster than walking pace.
All persons on the greyhound track while the lure system is running is to wear high visibility clothing, trainers must box their own dogs, trainer must arrange a catcher and supply their own lure.
Racing is held twice a week in Ballarat for Greyhounds, typically on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. There are occasional mid-week meetings on Thursday, but all races are conducted over the 390, 450, 545 and 660-metre distances on a sand racing surface ($3.2 Million Overhaul For Ballarat Greyhound Racing).
Construction has commenced to build a brand new, state-of-the-art facility for racing operations at the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club. Upgrades will feature a fully enclosed building with natural light, 112 large kennel bays and dog wash areas, a stewards’ room and veterinarian room, a storeroom, as well as grassed and undercover outdoor areas.
The Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club was established in 1935. It was originally named “Broadway Park” on Creswick Road before a new facility was constructed over three years at Morshead Park.
The first race meeting at the new Ballarat greyhound track at Morshead Park was conducted on Saturday December 23, 1978.

The Ballarat Cup is the marquee event held at the Ballarat racing track. The 2024 edition was won by Explicit, a 2YO trained by Jason Thompson.
The second race that draws attention from all over Australia is the Top Cat video Young Star Classic, which is run each July.
