Barefoot Zulu blazes to Grafton track record in maiden trial

Barefoot Zulu, a newcomer in greyhound racing, has made headlines in Grafton by breaking the 450m track record during a trial on June 30.
Under the new guidance of trainer Steve Keep, the greyhound achieved a time of 24.87 seconds, surpassing the record set by Cash View in September 2021 at 25.01 seconds.
Owned by Simone Kellermeyer, Barefoot Zulu had competed before finishing fourth in a maiden race over 395m at Albion Park back in June.
Following that event, Stephen Keep took charge of training the dog over John Thompson.
According to Keep, there was nothing special done with Barefoot Zulu; however, his performance in trials has shown potential.
The remarkable feat achieved by Barefoot Zulu has heightened expectations for his debut in the Grafton Maiden Classic heats scheduled for Sunday, July 7.
The final race, with a prize of $20,000, is set to take place on Wednesday, July 17.
