Flee The Scene Fires Up For Maclean
A change of trainer has helped veteran chaser Flee The Scene regain the vigour that once saw him among the State's handiest performers.
The rising four-year-old is now prepared by Ben MacLean and to the young trainer's credit he has been prepared to campaign the greyhound at Northam where he has won four races from six starts.
“Ray and Linda Smithson gave me the dog because they thought he would really suit Northam and their judgment has proved spot on,” MacLean said.
Flee The Scene was purchased by the Smithsons from Tasmania in January and has since proved a consistent money earner, winning a couple of races.
On June 28, the connections were rewarded with victory in the Country Championship final (530m) at Cannington.
“It was my first feature race win and came about because Ray didn't have the time to take him to the country but believed that the dog deserved to keep racing.”
