El Grand Senor Returns
The brilliant El Grand Senor returns to the scene of his greatest triumph this Thursday night at Sandown Park.
El Grand Senor won three Group 1 races in 2010 – including the Solo Melbourne Cup at Sandown Park – on his way to Victorian and Australian Greyhound of the Year honours.
After a brief retirement following his win in the Group 2 Lion Quality Products Warragul Cup in January, El Grand Senor returned to the track in May and is undefeated in six starts since. He brilliantly won the star-studded Group 2 Lion Quality Products Traralgon Cup final at his last start.
El Grand Senor has won 33 of 40 career starts and over $488,000 in prizemoney. He has won five of his seven starts at the Lightwood Road circuit.
Carolyn Jones's star chaser has drawn box 3 in the Macro Meats Free For All, and will again meet Traralgon Cup finalists Radley Bale and Wy Yung Tiger, as well as 2010 Solo Melbourne Cup runner up Symmetry. Thursday night will be his first start on a metropolitan track since his Solo Melbourne Cup victory in November 2010.
Entry to Sandown Park is free. Gates open at 6.00pm, the first race is at 7.09pm and the Macro Meats Free For All, featuring El Grand Senor, will run at 9.35pm.
Dining packages are still available, contact the Sandown office on 03 9546 9511 to book your table.
