South Australia Acknowledges Its First Anabolic Steroid Positive

GRSA Head Steward Paul Marks has finally made public South Australia’s first positive swab to an anabolic steroid in a greyhound.

Mr Marks informed registered greyhound trainer Raye Kelly that her greyhound Flame McBain had tested positive to the anabolic steroid Hydroxystanazolol in a post race urine swab.

The positive swab stems back to the Port Augusta Greyhound Racing Club SA meeting held at Port Augusta on 11th October 2008.

Flame McBain competed in Race 5, a special event over 503 metres and placed 1st in the best of the day, earning connections $430.

The reserve portion of the urine sample was tested and the confiemd presence of Hydroxystanozolol.
Mrs. Kelly has been advised that she is required to attend an inquiry at the offices of Greyhound Racing SA Limited (GRSA) on Monday 8th December 2008 at 11.00am.
