Depeche’s 17-length Gosford win sets up tilt at The 715
Emerging middle-distance star Depeche delivered a jaw-dropping performance at Gosford on Tuesday night, equalling the 603m track record in a dominant 17.25-length victory for trainer Peter Lagogiane.
Jumping out as a deserved $1.15 favourite with the top greyhound bookmakers, Depeche exploded from Box 2 to the front early, clocking an 8.88 first sectional before powering through the second split in 21.29.
She maintained her rapid momentum, stopping the clock in a blistering 33.96, matching the time set by Like Wildfire in 2023.

Trainer Peter Lagogiane was thrilled with the performance, telling The Dogs, “We’ve always thought she had a record in her, and we’ve been telling the owners for a while how much potential she has.”
He added that Depeche’s clean-winded nature has allowed her to excel, handling the longer distances with ease.
The victory further solidifies Depeche’s potential as a future staying star, with Lagogiane confirming that she will now be targeted towards The Ladbrokes 715 at The Gardens, with heats set for April 24 and the $250,000-to-the-winner final a week later.
“She needs to be on the arm and in front, and she’s better suited doing her own thing,” Lagogiane said.
“Off her sections, she’ll run the 700m trip on her ear.”
Depeche’s success adds to the remarkable form of her litter, bred by Dave Brasch, with her brother Dalwhinnie holding the Wentworth Park 520m track record (29.03).
Brasch was full of praise for the family’s achievements, highlighting that their dam, Rasheda, was a Group-level stayer who won the QLD State Distance Final, contested 14 feature race finals, and ran 41.35 over 710m at Albion Park – the fastest female time ever recorded there.
The Aston Dee Bee x Rasheda litter has now won 30 of their combined 82 starts, boasting a 33% win strike rate.
Lagogiane has ruled out a tilt at the Group 1 Association Cup (April 5) at Wentworth Park, instead opting to fine-tune Depeche’s preparation for The 715.
“This performance showed exactly what she’s capable of,” Lagogiane said.
“She’s always been quick, but now we know she can sustain it over ground.”
Depeche has now recorded nine wins from 17 starts, and with her next test looming, she is shaping up as one of Australia’s most exciting middle-distance prospects.
