The 2014 installment of the Group Three Ladies Bracelet will be run on Saturday night at Wentworth Park. The race is for bitches only and has been a feature event since 1971. The race was first won by Shapely Escort and in previous years Winifred Bale, Camden’s Ghost, Jessica Casey, Lucy Lawless, Mint Mojo, Cindeen Shelby and Desalle Bale have all added their name to the honour roll. Lagoon Lawanna was crowned the 2013 winner.
The race jumps at 9:57pm and is worth $25,000 to the winner.
Comments: Mark Gatt (Trainer)– “I think she should go well. I don’t really like box one with her but with the draw the way it is she should get a good run on the fence. Realistically, she is a good chance of winning. She is really starting to race well.”
Comments: Returned to racing with style last week, running a close second behind Ritza Hattie. If she shows her customary early speed she is a big hope.
Comments: Huge run last week. She was caught up in interference early but worked herself into the race late to score by one and three quarter lengths in 29.96. One of the main dangers to Ritza Hattie.
Comments: ARG opinion is – Finished too strongly for Rose Of Galo last week. Her form prior to the series has been inconsistent. She will need to do everything right to be in with a chance.
Comments: ARG opinion is – Led last week and ran a fast 5.35 but was run down by Zipping Willow. She will need to show that early speed again but it looks like she will struggle from box six.
Comments: Darren McDonald (Trainer) – “The draw makes it hard for her as she needs the rail. It’s a good race. If she had drawn inside I would have rated her more of a chance.”
Comments: ARG opinion is – Recorded a fast 5.34 to the first mark last week and will need to repeat that to cross the field. She needs to lead to be amongst the placings.
Comments: Tried hard last week behind Quick Succession. Talented bitch who wouldn’t be out of place if she finished in the top three. Each-way chance if she gets a start.
Comments: Showed the effects of the gruelling Golden Easter Egg series last week, failing to lead. She finished strongly for third behind Smashing Sally and isn’t without a chance if she gets a start.

A real race will be on between the inside three bitches. Ritza Hattie (1) looks the favourite, drawing the prime rails position and coming off a flying 29.47 two weeks ago on Easter Egg night. Her trainer is hoping the box will give her the advantage along the rails. She will be challenged early by both Zipping Summah (2) and Zipping Willow (3). The dynamic sisters are both sub-30 performers at Wentworth Park and possess a strong finish. They are the main threats to Ritza Hattie saluting.
Irondale Bravo (5) is currently at double figure odds in betting markets but it’s worth remembering that she has a 29.66 personal best to her credit and she has been racing well. She will be poised to strike if the inside three have a mix-up. Quick Succession (7) was the fastest heat winner in 29.80. She jumped from box two in the heats and now moves to the unsuitable wide draw. She will need luck from the draw but if she can lead, she will perform well. The remainder of the outside divison, Lacey Lois (6) and Rose Of Galo (8) both possess early toe but are considered rough outside chances of winning. Lastly, Smashing Sally (4) will need to show some consistency if she is to win as her form prior to the series was all over the place.
