Albion Park Distance Duo Face Their Toughest Test Thursday Night

Two of Brisbane’s top performing greyhounds will step up in distance this Thursday night at Albion Park.

The 600m king of the track, and 2008 Brisbane , Black Ruler, will have his first start at 710m at the track, while in-form dog will be starting over 600m.

Black Ruler will line up for his seventh straight win after another solid performance to beat promising bitch Sassy Sprite last Thursday.

Manhattan, trained by Darryl Trembath, has hit great form recently winning his last two starts at Albion Park both in a very quick time of 30.25.

The -trained Black Ruler is jumping from box four in his race (race two), with vacant on his direct inside and outside with a small field of five.

While the inspiring chaser will be short in the betting ring, other chances in the race include Mitolo Jester and Come Up Uno, who have both started over the distance and achieved second and third places.

In Manhattan’s race (race eight), proven 600m performer Xanadu’s Image is sure to contest from box five along with One Missing in box one.

The Big Dog Pet Foods 520m race (race three) will showcase some local talent.

Proven performer Wild Silence has drawn the lucky one box and will enjoy a the drop in class after its previous runs against Manhattan and Group One contender, Intelligence.

Jumping from box eight, will also be one to watch in this race boasting a best time of 30.28 at Albion Park in September last year.

Race four of the night, the Brandons Electectrical 520m, will see the return of to Thursday night racing after a successful few starts in Ipswich, Capalaba and then winning at Albion Park on Monday night.

Jumping from box two, the Percy Camden-trained dog will be hard to beat with competition only expected from number five, , and number six, Spiritual Cloud.

Lightly raced greyhound Sangio King made his return back to competition on New Years Day, and will be chasing another blistering victory in Race Six tonight.

The Sandra Hunt-trained performer clocked in at a very quick 30.00 for his first start back since starting at the now closed racing complex in July last year.

Place chances in this race include She’s The Word from box one, and Track Hammer from box three.

A local derby will be fought out on Thursday night also, with a thrilling 520m field in race nine.

Blueys Spirit, Eskimo Dancer, Heza Managerie and Sam Beau Stanley will go head to head for the $3,250 winner’s cheque.

However, Eskimo Dancer is expected to go into the race favourite with a very solid performance running second to Intelligence by just over a length in a time of 30.13.

The last race on the card, the A Team 520m, will see the Ron Ball-trained Straight Wicked looking to improve on his Monday night second placing, which has been his first run back in Brisbane since just missing out on a start in the last month.

Straight Wicked made a good return to racing last week at Ipswich and will enjoy being back on home turf.

Those sure to be in the finish of this race include Gannon in box four, Sneaky Shiraz in box two and Diamond Spar from box one.
