Bag The Cash – Townsville, August 8

Trainer Partland said the performances served up by Bag The Cash had not been expected.

“It's taken me by surprise everything that he has achieved so far,” he said.

Tuesday night was the first race over the 498m journey for Bag The Cash, after he had built a strong winning streak next to his name at the 380m.

Three of those six wins over that shorter distance came by less than a length.

“Everything you throw at him, he tends to accomplish,” Partland said.

“I will keep him at the 498 and we might have a crack at the heats next .

“I think he will only get stronger over that distance.

“The best thing about the way he races is he is quick early, so with the corner start in Townsville he tends to get out and avoid any trouble.”

His career started in Mount Gambier with a fifth on debut while trained by Tony Hinrichsen, before joining the Partland kennel in May this year.

“I knew the owner (Craig Watts) when he was in South Australia, and he probably didn't achieve much down there,” Partland said.

“He came here, and he has hit another gear, which is really encouraging.”

The x dog has eight wins and six placings from 20 career starts as he edges towards cracking $15,000 in prize money.
