Bathurst Gold Cup Draws Near
Heats for the best 32 dogs nominated plus reserves are set down for on Wednesday March 18 with the final on Wednesday March 18.
Two heats of the H.E. (Dick) Buttsworth Memorial for 5th graders over 618 metres will be staged on March 11 along with heats of the Geoff Case Appreciation Sprint over 450 metres also for 5th graders.
The Bathurst Gold Cup carnival commences with a non-tab meeting on Saturday March 7 with three sets of heats to be decided. These include the Bathurst GBOTA Branch Maiden over 520 metres which carries a $2,000 winner's purse, the Geoff Cooke Plumbing Bathurst Bullet for the Best 16 noms over 307 metres, worth $1,500 to the winner.
The third set of heats is for a new event on the calendar namely the St George Marketing Battlers Cup for greyhounds classified as 4th or 5th and who haven't won a race for 6 months as the name suggests. Proudly sponsored by Reagan Murphy of St George Marketing & Public Relations the winner of the final will also pocket $1,500 plus Trophy & Rug.
The finals of all three events will be staged on the big March 18 Gold Cup program.
Finals day March 18 promises to be a sensational card of racing with over $37,000 in prizemoney up for grabs. As an added bonus St George Marketing & Public relations has promised $500 to any greyhound which breaks a track record on the main night.
The Trevor Black Memorial open to the Best 8 stayers nominated over 700 metres completes the bumper finals program and boasts a $2,500 purse for the lucky winner.
Nominations for the Saturday March 11 program close with the club on Tuesday March 3 at 5.00pm whilst nominations for the Wednesday March 11 close with the G&HRRA on Friday March 6 at 10am.
