Bells Fair Claims Track Record & Bathurst GOTY Stranglehold
The Mark Vella trained Bells Fair celebrated his 21st race track success in the best way possible by smashing the 307 metre track record at Kennerson Park on October 18 with an unheard of 17.47 gallop.
The brilliant short-courser proved the run no fluke by backing it up with a sizzling 17.57 effort at Bathurst on Saturday.
In just eight months of racing the son of Collision and Fair Hazard has racked up 22 wins from only 37 starts and boasts thirteen wins and three placings from eighteen starts at Bathurst.
Included in that stat Bells Fair has six wins from seven over the 307 metre trip and he has posted four of the fastest five times ever recorded.
As a result of his outstanding form in 2008 Bells Fair has a stranglehold on the Bathurst Greyhound Of The Year title which will be awarded at the annual Soldier's Saddle Dinner and Presentation Night on November 30 at the Bathurst RSL Club.
Tickets are $35 per head and can be booked and purchased through the club on (02) 6331 2201.
