2016 Group 1 Silver Chief Classic heats – full tips and best odds

ELEVEN heats of the 1 Silver Chief Classic (525 metres) will be run at The Meadows on Saturday night featuring some of the sport's best up-and-coming male sprinters.

The last edition of the race was taken out by the Rob Britton-trained Above All and the leading mentor will head into 2015/2016 series with three chances – Allen Oregan (heat eight, box seven), Allen Membo (heat ten, box eight) and Bruce Tycoon (heat eleven, box three).

The current favourite to take out the $100,000 event on January 2 is Cutting Edge ($10 with Bet365) which was won eight of its 10 starts for . The son of Barcia Bale and Chasin The Dream has drawn well in box one in race eight and is currently $1.50 to take out his heat of the three week series.

Also right in the market for the overall win is the emerging Snakebite Bale for Andrea Dailly. A half-brother to dual Group 1 winner Dyna Double One, the son of David Bale and Crystin Bale comes into the series following two wins over the track and trip, running 29.81 on both occasions.

Snakebite Bale is $13 with Bet365 to take out the final and has drawn box two in race seven.

Four runners share the $17 quote in the all-in market – , American Monster, It's Classified and Unlwaful Entry, the latter of which took out the Group 1 Hobart Thousand (461 metres) on Thursday night.

The first heat is race one on the card at The Meadows this Saturday and is set to jump at 7:12pm AEDT.

Australian Racing Greyhound has previewed each qualifier, with tips from our resident form analyst, Brad Bugeja.

Handy and open heat to kick off the night but I think if the red does everything right in the first 50m, he will take a power of beating. Jesaulenko ($2.45 with Crownbet) has won eight of 19 to date and he has scored some scorching victories. He is making his race debut here but I'm sure he has trialled around this circuit in preparation for this series and if he finds the top early he should be running around the 29.80 mark and that will see him score.

Igor Karkaroff ($5.50) has a great record here and he is drawn to get the run of the race. Four starts ago he powered to the line when posting a commanding 30.04 victory here and if he can reproduce that type of run he shouldn't be too far away from the red as they near the line.

Paraphernalia ($23) is showing a heap of promise and he will be powering to the line. His lack of early speed is a slight concern but he does have an engine and he will continue to get better with every run.

Anti Dentite ($13) rounds out the chances, he is a talented QLD chaser and he must be respected.

American Monster ($3.25 with Bet365) continues to impress and he is blessed with a devastating turn of foot. He is drawn awkwardly but the five does have a heap of early burn and he will look for the rail so if he can step on terms he should get a nice cart across. Last time out he was able to lead all the way and he beat a super lineup at Warragul in a dazzling 25.72 and this really does look to be his race.

Marley Bale ($4) has the good draw and he has scored some top wins in his brief career. He returned to racing with a powerful 450m Ballarat win on Wednesday and he should be further improved by that run.

Absolute Power ($4) is a lot better than his form reads and he has been placed in all four tries over this track and trip. His lack of early speed is always a worry but he will hit the line hard and he should sneak into the minor money.

Allen Terminator ($4.20) is an absolute beast for around 350m, however the last 175m is going to be a big challenge for him and I can't see him hanging on and being in the finish.

Channing ($3.50 with Sportsbet) is a budding superstar and last time out he broke the 509m Track Record at Northam when posting an eye popping 29.01. He started his career in Victoria, so I'm guessing he may have trialled around this circuit so he shouldn't have too many problems handling the first corner. This bloke is the real deal and he is a legitimate chance of capturing the final.

Percy's Lad ($6.50) could be the value in the race, he is a very reliable beginner and he does his best racing here. He isn't overly strong but if they happen to shuffle up behind him, he might be able to steal the prize at nice odds.

Invictus Rapid ($4.75) has an amazing turn of foot but he has a bad habit of bombing the start and from the wide draw he may get posted wide at the first bend. He obviously has the talent to win a race like this but he will need a lot to go his way.

Kenny Flash ($23) and Maury Spirit ($3.50) are the interesting runners, both are from interstate but they have been racing in rare form and they must be respected.

Diego Bale ($3.50 with Bet365) is one of the more reliable chasers in the race, he has a great record here and he is armed with dazzling early speed. Two starts back he showed a great turn of foot when scoring here in 29.98 and if he gets across tonight he should be off and gone with the prize.

Zigstar ($7.50) is a bit of a beast when he decides to put it all together but he can be extremely hard to follow at times. After an average beginning last start he was able to explode mid race and he looked strong in the run to the line when posting a scorching 25.78 Warragul win. If he can gain a clear passage mid race he should be right in the mix as they near the line.

Why Not Les ($5.50) doesn't have the same amount of talent as some of his rivals but he is reliable early and he has posted a solid 30.08 here previously. I don't think he can win but he can definitely take home some minor money.

Twist Of Thunder ($8.50) and WA visitor About To Rock ($4) round out the hopes, both have the talent to score but they will need luck from there awkward draws.

Very open race and I can't wait to see what WA visitor Eisenhower ($8 with Crownbet) does. He comes here having broken his maiden at Northam in a near record 29.21 and he is a litter brother to excitement machine Channing. He showed good pace in that run but he did miss away in his second start and that is a slight concern as he does have a heap of speed drawn on his outside. If he comes out running I reckon he is probably a 29.70 chaser around this circuit and that run will be more than competitive.

Marlow Brown ($8.50) was runner up in the Gawler Cup Final at only his sixth start. He is making his debut here but he has strung together three breathtaking wins on the trot. He has dazzling early speed, so if he happens to cross early he may be off and gone with the prize.

Unlawful Entry ($2.50) is racing in rare form and he has the class edge, my only concern with him is that he has plenty of speed drawn on either side and he can miss the kick at times.

Both Sides Now ($7.50) returned to his best with a strong and fast 29.41 Park win last time and he must also be respected.

It's Classified ($5 with Sportsbet) is a star SA chaser and he had the benefit of a trial here last week in which he posted a smart 29.96. His sectionals where ok but he is capable of going faster and with that general improvement expected, he should be able to go around the 29.80 mark or even a tad faster. From the red draw he should be able to poke through and lead and if he finds the top it will take a power of beating

Zipping Chubbz ($9) is easily the fastest chaser in the race and if he gets a clear crack at them he will blow them away. The big worry with him is that he can be a little steady to begin at times and he needs room to muster speed, so from the middle pin he will need a lot of things to go his way.

Snakebite Bale ($1.90) is a half brother to the champ Dyna Double One and he is showing enough potential to suggest he has a few group ones in him too. He has gone around the 29.80 mark in his two victories here and with a clear run he should be right in the finish. This is clearly a rise in class for him but he should be up to the challenge.

Allen Marky ($14) is a strong type and he is a must for your exotic bets, I dont think he can win but he should get a nice sit just behind them and he could sneak into third spot.

Cutting Edge ($1.50 with Bet365) is an exciting prospect and he has won here previously in an eye popping 29.74 and he has won a eight of his 10 starts overall. He finds himself in a fairly weak heat tonight and with a wide runner on his outside, he should be afforded all the breaks in the run to the first bend. He won't be flashy odds but he will be winning quite easily.

Hush Now ($5.50) appears to be the obvious danger and he has won four of his five starts here. He is armed with genuine early speed and there is every chance he might be able to cross the red in the run to the first turn. I don't think he can hold the favourite off but he should be able to hang on for the quinella spot.

Jailor Bale ($6) should come across with the seven early and he has been racing very well. Like the seven, I don't think he can hold on but some minor money does look likely.

Aeroplane Bob ($2.90 with Crownbet) appears to be the real deal and he has strung together four eye catching victories. He isn't exactly a but from the red draw he should be able to muster through in the early stages and if he finds the early lead that should be the end of the section. Two starts back he blew away a handy lineup at Geelong in a scorching 25.56 so it will be interesting to see what he puts on the clock here.

Worm Burner ($4.40) is another SA chaser who has been reeling off ridiculous times in his Angle Park victories of late. From the two draw, he should be able to follow the red through early and with some clear running he should be able to make an impact. He is very fast and he just needs some luck in running.

Dyna Juggler ($4.40) beat the promising Dyna Maddie at Geelong last time out and he appears to be improving with every run. He will go around at nice odds but he is capable of causing an upset.

American Warrior ($3) is going to be well fancied but I think he is a massive lay, he will likely miss the kick and he will have to work very hard to get into the race and he is suspect in the final stages.

Moreira ($2.70 with Sportsbet) can do a lot of things wrong in his races but there is no doubting that he is one of the fastest chasers in this series and with some luck at the first bend he should be able figure in the finish. There is plenty of speed drawn in the six, so if he steps well he should get a nice cart across early and if he sights the , they better look out.

Hard Bargain ($6) appears to be the likely leader in the event and he is more than capable on his night. He has won three of seven here and if he gets across and the seven finds trouble, he could be off and gone with the prize.

Allen Lottery ($5) has won five of his past eight and one of those was here in a slick 29.97. The middle pin makes things hard but if he somehow gets through the first corner unscathed, he should be right in the mix.

Mystery Ride ($6) is a promising speedster and if he can step well he could run a cheeky race. He has been a little disappointing in his past couple of efforts but he is clearly much better than that.

Ernest Bale ($6 with William Hill) is a super talent when on song and he looks perfectly placed in the two draw. The red is armed with good early speed and that should allow him to get a nice trail through as they head for the back straight. He is an extremely powerful chaser when he gets into the open spaces and he does have a bit on these talent wise.

Backline Willy ($5.50) has plenty of gears but he will bomb the start, so he will need a few things to go his way early. He is capable of scoring but he is going to be well under the odds.

Our Zayney Nash ($13) has been taking on some quality lineups of late and he should be more than competitive in this, he has early speed to burn and he should be in the firing line for most of the journey.

Tough race to finish the night but the in form Harlon ($3 with ) will take some stopping if he does everything right in the early stages. Last week he overcame a few difficulties in running when posting an impressive 30.41 victory here and he is capable of beginning a lot better in his races. If he finds the top early he will be running some serious time out in front.

Mepunga Joffa ($2.40) has the good draw and he is showing plenty of potential having won four of his nine starts to date. He has won here in a solid 30.16 previously and with a clear passage tonight he is capable of getting down to the 30 flat mark.

Bruce Tycoon ($5) had no luck when resuming from a spell and he is clearly much better than that, if he is fully fit he is more than capable of taking this race out.

Tron Bradman ($17) can't win the event but he is extremely strong and the wide draw will suit, so he is a must for your exotic bets.
