Dapto greyhound tips, top odds & best bets | Thursday, May 19
We head back to Dapto this Thursday for a full card of 12 greyhound races, headlined by the latest instalment of the GRNSW Middle Distance Series (9:42pm AEST). Here are ARG's best bets and quaddie picks for the night, with top odds from Australia's best bookmakers.
BEST BET: Light And Lily (Race 10)
The Jordan Tweddle-trained Light And Lily (box 4) looks the greyhound to beat in this race. She was an excellent second behind General Cortez last Thursday night from box six, starting well and clocking a very fast 16.95 seconds – a personal best. A repeat of that effort would win this race. Tonight, she has drawn another middle box, but there does not appear to be a lot of speed drawn inside. Expect the Patrick Daly-trained Coco Boomer (box 6) to lead early, stay out in the middle of the track and allow Light And Lily to rail inside of her and win. Patrick Daly also has Kuro Warrior (box 7) entered in this race. That dog finished third behind General Cortez last Thursday night, beaten 2.5 lengths from box two. Hard to see him beating Light And Lily, but looks a good trifecta chance.

NEXT BEST BET: Vulcan Girl (Race 4)
The Christopher Lovelee-trained Vulcan Girl (box 7) looks a great play in this 297m dash. This daughter of Zipping Garth has been luckless in her last two starts at Nowra and Dapto. Three starts back, she was a good second at Dapto on April 21 behind Coco Boomer from box six, clocking a good 17.24 seconds. A repeat of that run would see her winning this race. She can begin well and handle a wide draw, while she should get clear galloping room early in this race and be a good winning chance.
BEST VALUE BET: Javen Bale (Race 11)
The Simon Rhodes-trained Javen Bale (box 5) looks the best value bet of the night. He resumed here last Thursday night after an eight-month break and finished a close fourth behind Winlock Lad, beaten two lengths from box six after a moderate start, clocking 17.36 seconds. He should improve from that race and may begin better tonight. He finished second in both of his previous starts over this track and distance. On paper, this is not a strong fifth-grade race and looks devoid of good early speed. Expect Javen Bale to be contesting the lead and be too strong in the run home.
