Group 1 racing returns to the world-famous Dapto dogs this Thursday night. The Group 1 Dapto Megastar will highlight the card, with a cracking field and $75,000 going to the winner. There are 11 other top-quality races on the bill, which kicks off at 7:10pm local time.
Dapto Megastar Final: Umberto (1)
In what is one of the best fields assembled in 2023 so far, the Group 1 Dapto Megastar will probably be won by the greyhound that leads around the first turn. Umberto has taken a while to settle into his temporary accommodation in NSW, but his run in the heats was superb. He led until the very last stride and was nutted right on the line in a flying 29.49. He will have improved with a look at the track, and he’s drawn perfectly for the final. If he shows his customary pace and holds the rails, that might just be the difference.

Race 4: Ninja Mac (8)
This boy has been flying of late and accounted for several of his rivals here at his last start. He’s had a few weeks off to freshen up for this, has a tremendous career record (44: 14-10-9), and is two wins and three placings from five attempts in the pink rug. He will need to get across the entire field, but the way he won his last start suggests maybe there is bigger and better ahead for Ninja Mac.

Race 11: Arran Victory (1)
This guy had no luck last week last time out when he got lost in the middle of the pack and was flattened. If he took no ill effects from the fall, he will be right in this race. He moves back into his favourite box, and his personal best of 17 seconds looks like the kind of time that will win this race. He has two wins and a placing from four goes in the red rug and has nine wins from 34 starts overall. After last week’s mishap, Arran Victory should offer good value.
