Leg 1 – Wentworth Park – Race 6: Sweet It Is To Win $1.70
I know it looks like an obvious one but the more I look at tonight's two feature races, the more I think that the two favourites look just about unbeatable. Sweet It Is has a good record over this trip and this is clearly the weakest final she has ever contested. There is plenty of speed in one, five, six, seven and eight and with them all vying the lead, I'm expecting there to be quite a lot of shuffling up front and that should allow Sweet It Is to tack on and she should be too close mid race. She is a powerhouse chaser and she really does appear to have a fair bit on her rivals.
Leg 2 – Wentworth Park – Race 8: Fernando Bale To Win $1.60
Like Sweet It Is, Fernando Bale has quite a few lengths on his rivals and with an ounce of luck in the first 30m he should be scoring quite easily. His effort in the State Final showed that he was a little flat, he has now had two weeks off and I'm sure connections would have him cherry ripe for tonight's assignment. There is a little bit of speed drawn around him but he should ping the lids and if he does he will burn them off quite easily. The $1.60 is short but for a chaser of his calibre it appears to be pinching money.
Leg 3 – The Meadows – Race 4: Zipping Chubbz To Win $6
Zipping Chubbz is taking on a couple of super talents in Sulzanti and Moreira but he is blessed with explosive early speed and he appears favourably drawn in the eight. If he can step on terms he should have sufficient speed to drive across and find the early lead and if he does assume control, he will take some catching. He should be able to go around the 30 flat mark and I think that should be enough to score.
