Greyhound Tips for Monday 5th August 2013

Big night ahead for the ‘Apple Isle' as we see there heats of the Sprint championship. The old champion Rewind is engaged, however he  will have to tough from an outside box. We also see the youngster, Shes All Class for David Croswell, and it will be interesting to see if she can make her way through to the state championship and how she goes in the national final.

Greyhounds Race 8  box  1 Man of manners 9:06 PM

This  dog looks a  good bet here tonight from the red box. He should bounce straight to the front and take plenty of catching. He's been a little disappointing of late but finds himself in a race that he can win here tonight. He has a best time of 30.04, quicker than most of this field. Both Harry Tycoon and Seldom Said can jump and go quickly in the early stages, and they may put the pressure on Man of Manners here from the get go. As long as he can stay in touch early,  he should be able to drive through at the turn and take up the lead passing the 395m boxes. Once he finds the front hes a pretty strong animal during the middle stages of the race and he should just race away here  tonight. He is long overdue for a win and this  looks the perfect race to back him at even money. Great bet.

Greyhounds Race 7 Box 1 Velocity Melita 8.38pm.

This girl managed to win one here last week but in very slow time. I remember her quite well when she raced here at when in training with . She run some very good races and ran quick times over the short distance at Ipswich, however did appear to struggle over the 500. I have seen much slower dogs go across to Angle Park and run far quicker times then she did here last week in 30.73. I know she's capable of much quicker and from box one if she bounces out and finds the bunny, I reckon she can get around the 30.00 mark. So based on that I think she's a great bet here tonight from the cherry. It just appears as if she has struggled since coming across,  but now she's won one, I think we may see the best of her. Great bet from an inside box and expect her to be up there early. Big chance.

Greyhounds Race 2 Box 2 Li Li, 8.02 pm

Very poor race here, with dogs engaged who have poor form. I'm going with Li Li, who hails from the very successful litter of Head Bound and Its a She. She is the best credentialed dog in the race, although Terror Time has run much quicker time. Li Li has only had the two stars over the distance for one third. She should have enough pace here to clear the box one runner and should land straight on the bunny from the get go. One she finds the bunny she can carve out solid sectionals and she will be very hard to catch here tonight. Terror Time appears the only other danger, but she has been a little bit below her best of late. These two runners look the standouts of the race, with the only other chance given to Sandy Pines. If you decide to take a trifecta, I would be boxing these three runners as they appear the only three who can run first, second and third. Li Li is well overdue for a win and this looks to be her best chance here tonight.

We only have the three selections here for you tonight as I don't like and I run out of time to do the replays for in Victoria. We haven't had the greatest amount of luck lately and haven't backed anything  at a good price, hopefully tonight things can change. I'm very on Velocity Melita and think she has the potential to be a real quality dog here in South Australia. I have seen far more inferior dogs go across and become very good animals. I know she's been disappointing but it looks as if tonight is her night. Great bet and I think she should be fair odds.

Best of luck
