Greyhound Racing Tips For Wednesday 1st July 2009
Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound's free Greyhound Racing Tips for Wednesday 1st July 2009 with Tips tonight from Ballarat (Victoria), Warrnambool (Victoria), Bulli (New South Wales), Ipswich (Queensland) and Cannington (West Australia).
So with racing coming Ballarat (Victoria), Warrnambool (Victoria), Bulli (New South Wales), Ipswich (Queensland), and Cannington (West Australia), lets review our betting advice for those tracks.
Ballarat is one of the fairest one turn tracks in the country and in general punters can bet with confidence over all distances, although inside boxes are slightly favoured and the 8 box races well off the 450m start. The track suits both speedy and strong greyhounds.
Warrnambool was redeveloped in 2008 to remove much of the bias and interference that occured on the old “egg” shaped track. Unfortunately while inteference has been reduced, “transition turns” have turned the track in to a leader biased procession. In almost all races the winner comes from the greyhound in front about 50m from the boxes. Only strong railing greyhounds can make ground from behind and wide runners are decidedly disadvantaged. The red box is favoured over all distances.
Bulli, like Horsham is considered on of the fairest tracks in Australia, with every greyhound afforded a chance from any box. The 400m and 472m starts both demonstrate the normal greyhound race distribution of boxes 1,2,8,7 favoured, with the 472m start extremely even across all boxes with the exception of 1 and 8. The 515m start, being a slight corner start, has a preference toward the four inside boxes. The best betting races are the 472 events, but the 400m races and also attractive.
Ipswich can be a punters graveyard and as a general rule punters avoid investing in the 431m races unless you are laying them on Betfair, as the corner starts throws up many unlikely winners and lots of interference. If you must bet on these races, box 1 wins almost twice as many races as every other box with the exception of the second best box, box 2. The 520m races are a little more even, but have a decided bias toward the four inside boxes due to the short run to the corner and even class greyhounds find it hard to win from wide boxes. The 630m races are another corner start.
Cannington is one of the better two tracks which does tend to give greyhounds off the speed a chance to run on. Both the 530m, and 642m distances favour the inside boxes and the 1 box has a slight advantage over the 715m distance. The 297m races,starting at the top of the back straight, runs reasonably fairly, although box 1 is an advantage. The four inside boxes are advantaged over the 530m, the three inside boxes over the 642m and the 715m races reasonably evenly.
Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 6 – Birthday Boy
Some of you will be questioning my judgement here after having tipped Birthday Boy more than a few times in his last 5 unsuccessful starts. However he was scractched from Sandown 2 weeks ago and was found to be sufferinf from a virus. Has since trialled better than the track record by some reports at Warrnambool over the 390m 8 days ago and will only have to go within 5 lengths of that run to win this.
Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 7 – Thanks To You
Costly conveyance let us down at The Meadows Saturday night, but we have to back up based on the fact only recent run to have remotely shown what he is capable of, was from this box at Warragul 3 starts back when we were on him. Led almost all the way on that occassion and ran a very credible 24.09 that night. Has broken 24 at Bendigo and despite only winning 2 of 8 starts is very classy at best.
Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 10 – Box 6 – Hillbilly Jack
Very tricky race and some very quick greyhounds involved, that do not always show their best. Hillbilly Jack won brilliantly at coursing one the weekend and nothing keens them up like going over the short course 3 times in one day against just 1 other greyhound. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you'll never go brokoe backing coursing winners who back up on the circle within a week of the win. Hillbilly Jack fits the bill and although he's only diplayed moderate ability so far, I'm more than happy to be on him.
Warrnambool Greyhounds – Race 11 – Box 8 – Digital Sun
Again getting a run from box 8 the Darren Fisher trained Digital Sun let us down badly last week bu should again get every chance to lead throughout as hed did running 6.73, 25.91 to win his maiden the week prior. Down in grade on last weeks maiden final, from an outside draw, which this breed appreciate, Digital Sun should go very close at good odds.
Bulli Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 1 – Pretty Boy Troy
Pretty Boy Troy smashed a field here last week, running 29.15 of box 6 and should only go better again from box in the final. That was his first win at his only start over this track and distance but has won 9 of 25 starts with 10 minors so far and obviously has more than average ability. Has started twice from box 1 for 1 win and a placings. Hasn't been beaten far by much better greyhounds like Maginifique and Repeated and should bolt this in.
Bulli Greyhounds – Race 10 – Box 8 – Carbon Reprint
Carbon Reprint has previously won 2 starts well, both here at Bulli running 26.78 to win a maiden and 26.87 to win a 5th grade from boxes 8 and 1 respectively. Failed past 2 starts terribly at Richmond and Bulli again, but should be capable of atoning in a weak from from the wide draw again. In very good hands and should go well.
Ipswich Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 1 – Miss Amy Jade
Miss Amy Jade has been in our Australian Racing Greyhound kennel for quite some time and she returned to racing last week with a very below par effort. After lookng like a super stayer in the making after 2 very good wins here at Ipswich, she switched off and was later found to have had a shoulder injury and then came on season. Ran a poor 5th here last week from box 3 after nearly leading and then copping some minor interference. Was well back in last and still managed to finish 5th but looks as though she'll need a clear run to show her best which she should get from box 1 after gaining a run as reserve.
