Greyhound Racing Tips For Wednesday 29th July 2009

Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound’s free Greyhound Racing Tips for Wednesday 29th July 2009 with Tips tonight from Ballarat (), Warrnambool (Victoria), Bulli (New South Wales), Ipswich (Queensland) and (West ).

So with racing coming Ballarat (Victoria), Warrnambool (Victoria), Bulli (New South Wales), Ipswich (Queensland), and Cannington (West Australia), lets review our betting advice for those tracks.

Ballarat is one of the fairest one turn tracks in the country and in general punters can bet with confidence over all distances, although inside are slightly favoured and the 8 box races well off the 450m start. The track suits both speedy and strong greyhounds.

Warrnambool was redeveloped in 2008 to remove much of the bias and interference that occured on the old “egg” shaped track. Unfortunately while inteference has been reduced, “transition turns” have turned the track in to a leader biased procession. In almost all races the winner comes from the greyhound in front about 50m from the boxes. Only strong railing greyhounds can make ground from behind and wide runners are decidedly disadvantaged. The red box is favoured over all distances.

Bulli, like Horsham is considered on of the fairest tracks in Australia, with every greyhound afforded a chance from any box. The 400m and 472m starts both demonstrate the normal greyhound race distribution of boxes 1,2,8,7 favoured, with the 472m start extremely even across all boxes with the exception of 1 and 8. The 515m start, being a slight corner start, has a preference toward the four inside boxes. The best betting races are the 472 events, but the 400m races and also attractive.

Ipswich can be a punters graveyard and as a general rule punters avoid investing in the 431m races unless you are laying them on Betfair, as the corner starts throws up many unlikely winners and lots of interference. If you must bet on these races, box 1 wins almost twice as many races as every other box with the exception of the second best box, box 2. The 520m races are a little more even, but have a decided bias toward the four inside boxes due to the short run to the corner and even class greyhounds find it hard to win from wide boxes. The 630m races are another corner start.

Cannington is one of the better two tracks which does tend to give greyhounds off the speed a chance to run on. Both the 530m, and 642m distances favour the inside boxes and the 1 box has a slight advantage over the 715m distance. The 297m races, starting at the top of the back straight, runs reasonably fairly, although box 1 is an advantage. The four inside boxes are advantaged over the 530m, the three inside boxes over the 642m and the 715m races reasonably evenly.

Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 3 – Remo Arctic

The Geoff Mitchell trained has won 2 of his last 3 starts at Horsham and Shepparton and as the only genuine quick beginner in this field looks a standout. Has started 17 times for 7 wins and 2 placings and has had the 1 start here for a 2nd. Last win was a quick 25.53 best win and should really be winning this.

Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 8 – Hesa Felon

With the scratching of , NSW greyhound Hesa Felon from box 8 comes right in to contention. The Darren Sultana trained Hesa Felon looks well boxed and is the obvious leader having run a good 8.59 last week before getting run down by Droopy Monelli in 25.53 at his first look at the track. Did have the 1 box last week and will now have to contend with 8, but has won 8 from 12 and posted some very quick wins and placings including a third to Remo Rubik in the Wangaratta Cup final.

Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 6 – Regal Blaze

Regal Blaze who is undoubtedly talented, just seems to want it a bit easier in the run and the switch to middle distances has worked well. Fluked a Sandown win in flying time and the ran well again at Geelong over 600m, running 34.29 before finding the competition too much in the run when 4th over the sprints at Sandown. Over the 550m at Ballarat tonight he looks a graded certainty against only lowly 2-3 win greyhounds.

Warrnambool Greyhounds – Race 1 – Box 3 – Surf The Dream

We don;t normally tip in maiden races but Surf The Dream fairly flew around Warrnambool in a trial 10 days ago and only needs to run up to that 22.40ish run to win this. Has only had 1 start for a 7th at Ballarat 2 months ago when a $5.70 chance. Is going to start huge odds and just has to run remotely up to his trial to win this.

Warrnambool Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 3 – Prince Tears

Prince Tears is a very hard greyhound to catch, having won just 3 of 17 starts but has run quick times when winning. Has been trialling very well and won’t be suprised to see him go well from box 3 tonight. Should be good odds and looking for an improved in a new kennel.

Bulli Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 4 – Zambola Bale

Red hot race that will be action packed with 2 winners, a group finalist and the Canberra track record holder engaged. Have to fancy Zambola Bale over Dentax Bale who has been always looked a better greyhound despite his slow starts. Should be ideally suited by the Bulli 515m and will go very well.

Bulli Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 3 – Persuade

Shouldn’t need much persuading to get on the Mark Bell trained Persuade here, who is a litter brother to Young Star Classic pre post favourite Hooky Booky. Has started 3 times now for a win, a 2nd and a 3rd. All 3 starts have been here at Bulli and last start maiden win was a good 26.72 effort form box 1. Is improving at every start and although up in grade should go close again from box 3.
