Each week, Rowan Anderson will be having a look at the greyhounds to watch at Ipswich for the week along with his best tips for Saturday's card.

Greyhounds to watch

It took 40 starts but LORNA'S CREEK cracked her maiden winning by 0.75L over kennel mate Lorna's Law delivering the quinella for trainer Kevin Kemp.

On debut KENNY DUTTON, the half-brother to One winning chaser Little Byrnes, won on debut.

VERNON won over the 431m for trainer making his stat line 2-2-2 from seven starts.

FLAMING CYRUS was seen winning by close to six lengths and making it three wins from her eight starts. With a great getaway and impressive run, the Jason Schmidt-trained bitch by made it three from three runs over the track and distance.

GO WILD ETHAN lined up for his 61st start and bouncing from the box made a clean getaway and scored for the sixth time in his career. Had never won from box three with his best runs coming from the inside box but turned that around this time out winning by 2.05L.

REGAL SCOTCH is showing that Hooked on Scotch pedigree performing well and being in the money consistently. He is now only unplaced once in seven starts adding to his win tally (4).

Ipswich greyhound racing tips – Saturday, April 15

The focus of Saturday's meeting will be Auction Series Final over 520m with the winner taking $40,000.

Other highlights are the Ipswich Auction Consolation (520m R7) and Keith Sternberg Memorial Open (630m R7).

Let's take a look at the 11-race card in what is sure to be an action-packed meeting under the lights.

Race 1: SIRIUS SANDY (7) has only had four starts and has placed in every start and being over the track and distance is my bet here. COMICAL MICK (6) to also be competitive in his first try at the 520m after placing three times at Ipswich over the 431m.

Race 2: In the 520m Maiden Final I cannot go past SHISHKIN (2) who last won by 0.75 lengths in the heat last weekend. Out of the kennel his performances over the track and distance have been consistent at 5:1-3-1. FARMOR SMITTEN (1) won her heat by 4.05 lengths from the inside box and gets the draw to repeat here in the final. Expect these two to get a clean getaway and battle it out at the front.

Race 3: PAKINGTON STREET (7) is a young dog but won two starts ago over 431m before backing up with a second-place last time out. Steps up to the 520m and should be deep in the finish in this one. PIAZZA MINERVA (3) is an interesting prospect who has won only once in her career, in her career debut in May last year, and raced in tropical before relocating south joining the Roan Enright kennel. From three starts at the Ipswich track, she has two second placings at this distance and I can see her being competitive once again at odds.

Race 4: Tough field to pick from here but I am leaning towards LATRELL BAR COOL (7). Winning at Bundaberg over the 460m two starts ago gets the extra distance to get back to the winner's circle and make it two wins from eleven starts. Also liking GOULBURN GIRL from the Jedda Cutlack kennel to be in the finish armed with a 42.86% place record showing her consistency over her seven starts to date.

Race 5: Even though it is his first start from the #2 box I really like here. LORD YURI (6) also a chance here although with three starts from the box is yet to score. However, he has jumped from the #5 box four times winning twice and placing twice.

Race 6: The record breaker lines up again in HARA'S OPAL (3) who snapped the Ipswich 630m track record winning by ten lengths in 36.66. Returning a week later she did it again shaving her own record and running the distance in 36.51.

Speaking with trainer Jemma Daley she said that her speedy chaser was handling the track impressively at the moment and she commented on if she could see the Fernando Bale bitch crack her own record again.

“She seems to be handling the racing well at the moment.

“Not sure if she could break it again as 36.51 is an unbelievable time.”

Race 7: (5) has run twelve times over the track and distance for 2-3-2. Lines up here for his 35 starts and can see him in the finish. Trainer commented on how he is preparing.

“He's well and as good as I've had him.

“If he can find the front he will win. Big if though as he is not reliable at box rise.”

JAY MAC (3) yet to start from the #3 box but with six starts at track and distance has won twice and placed once and is from the impressive Tarquin Neal kennel and can see in the finish.

Race 8: The big one here! The Auction Series Final sees a strong and competitive field. A lot of backing will be with SEVEN SINNERS (4) but I am following MAGISTRATE (5) here. He has won from the box over the distance and from 19 starts has saluted 11 times – strong chaser and Fernando Bale pedigree shows strongly. HAYTOWN'S GIRL has drawn the 7, a box she has never jumped from, with her three wins from inside boxes.
Trainer Jemma Daley admitted that it will be a task but can see her chaser in the finish.

“She has come through the semi well.

“Going to need a little luck on the first corner as there is a little speed on her inside but if she gets a bit of room late, I expect her to be running on.”

Race 9: I like DE FERRAN (2) here as a consistent chaser having a 56% strike rating and a career of 32: 18-2-3. REFULGENT (7) draws the black box and the last two times starting from that alley he has finished third, expecting to be in the finish.

Race 10: The toughest race on the card to pick a winner but lean towards BAILEY (1) who lines up for his 169th start here. FAST AND FABIO (4) will run his 50th here and should be seen running on here also.

Race 11: I like SWEET ENOUGH (8) here who will relish the outside box having won her only 431m victory at the track from this box. (4) here should also find an alley through the middle and be in the finish.
