Rockhampton is set to host a 12-race program on Wednesday night from 6:52pm local time. The meeting is headlined by a fourth/fifth-grade final over the 510m featuring the likes of Sir Banjo, City Way and Skill Set.
Best Bet: Cascade Girl (Race 1)
This two-year-old has relocated to Rockhampton after spending her early days with Glen Boody in Brisbane. In her two local runs for Ken Boody she has bumped into Phantom Star and Sidra Holland in the Rockhampton Maiden 1000 series. Both greyhounds appear to have bright futures, so the daughter of Zambora Brockie hasn’t been disgraced by placing in both events. She finds a maiden that lacks depth and her formline is much stronger than her rivals’. She is drawn well down low, should cross Elite Noir, and Little Hercules outside won’t cause her any grief. Cascade Girl should find the front and will be very hard to run down.

This son of Zulu Zeus built a fair record in Western Australia, recording two wins and six placings from 10 starts. He was unraced beyond 300m prior to arriving in Queensland and raced well over the 407m on track debut. He drew wide on that occasion and was unable to lead, but he battled on gamely for fifth in 24.20. He will have taken plenty of benefit out of the run, while the low draw and the scratching of Emerald Swift only help. With a lack of speed expected in this race, Bar One Smokers can lead this field and break the 24-second barrier.

This three-year-old has spent all of her life in Rockhampton with Rob Weeding, recording 13 wins and 17 placings from 73 starts. She has raced in third/fourth-grade company for the last few months, facing the likes of More Peaches, Walk On Sunshine and Protagonist. She will relish the drop in grade and finds herself in masters company for the first time. All of her rivals are past their best and have been plotting around in this company for a while. If Angel Harks can get through the first turn unscathed, class will take her a long way.
