Albion Park Thursday tips & quaddie picks | August 3, 2023
Albion Park is set to host a 12-race program on Thursday night from 6:41pm local time. The meeting is headlined by two heats of the Queensland National Sprint, featuring the likes of Bear’s Bullet, Panama Pepper, Jay Is Jay and Tomahawk Hayze.
Locked On Scotch (Race 6)
Locked On Scotch returns to the staying trip on Thursday searching for another city win. The son of boom sire Hooked On Scotch has been racing brilliantly since stepping up to the middle and staying distances, recording three wins and three placings from six races at 600m and longer – including running second in Group 1 company to Palawa King. He dropped back to 600m last start and had no luck, getting checked at a crucial stage before running home stoutly. He hasn’t missed the podium from box one, and he looks likely to kick up and make all from the front.

Logan Alpha (Race 2)
Logan Alpha has faced the starter on four occasions, recording one win and two placings. The son of Feral Franky has a personal best of 30.25 over track and trip when running second to the progressive Icy Eyes. He appears well boxed in Thursday’s contest and should be able to cross his main danger, Horology, in the early stages. If he does so, a similar time to his personal best would win this race.

Select Moment (Race 4)
This daughter of Sennachie has won three of her past four races, including a demolition job in the Ipswich Grand Prix over the 732m a fortnight ago. She has been freshened up for Thursday’s 600m free-for-all, which will prove to be a wise move from trainer Gary Mackay. The three-year-old has a brilliant record off the red box, with four starts for three wins and one placing. She will be aided by the small field and can win from anywhere. Expect her to be strongest late in the piece and hard to hold out.
