Wentworth Park greyhound tips & best odds | August 5, 2023
The road to the Group 1 National Sprint Championships starts at Wentworth Park this Saturday night for the upper echelon of NSW greyhounds. There are three heats of the NSW National Sprint Series to determine who will be the state's representative at the Nationals final in Melbourne later this month. With another eight quality support races, this 11-part program is not to be missed. As always, we will try to find you a few winners.
Lochinvar Pearl (Race 2)
This young girl is having only her seventh career start and her third look at Wentworth Park. She began well in her two previous goes here, only to find early trouble and be checked out of the race. All she wanted to do last start, off box six, was find the fence and when she eventually did, her run was much better than it looked. She draws perfectly in box one and hopefully will not have to go around a dog. She has a middle-distance dog drawn outside her and there is not much other early pace in the race at all, so she should be able to lead this field. She will need to improve on her 30.7 personal best, but with clear running early she will do that comfortably.

Zipping Remus (Race 8)
Zipping Remus won the Group 1 Vic Peters Classic by eight lengths in a staggeringly quick 29.33, heralding the arrival of a new superstar. He then won his heat before finding trouble in the final of the Goulburn Southern Stars series. He has had nine starts at Wentworth Park for seven wins and two minors. Box four is the only box he has started from and not won, but with a vacant box three, if he can match Quantifiable early, he will be well on his way to righting that wrong in the third heat of the National Sprint Championships.

Coco Model (Race 9)
This girl will lead this race for fun. She was ultra-competitive in the Richmond Cannonball series against some of the fastest sprint dogs in the country. She will regularly run a 5.4 first section here, which is flying. The problem is running a strong 520m right out. She has a personal best here over the 520m of 29.7, which would go close in this race if she gets a soft early lead. She has won nine races on the track with a further 16 placings. With strong dogs like Zambora Tiger and Zipping Sabrina likely chasing her, she will hopefully start at very nice odds for the only real speed dog in the race.
