Rockhampton is set to host 12 races on Wednesday night with the first kicking off at 6:55pm local time. The feature race on the night is the $23,000 Rockhampton Wildcard Final, where the winner will gain direct entry into next fortnight's Rockhampton Cup. The two fastest local hopes for the upcoming Cup – Dixie Gambles and More Peaches – are set to go head-to-head in a mouthwatering clash.
Best Bet: Ring Me (Race 7)
Brilliant country sprinter Ring Me will look to get a much needed win over the 500m ahead of the Rockhampton Cup heats. After having a month between runs, building her up to the 500m, the Ken Boody-trained runner ran fifth last start, beaten seven lengths. While that run appears poor on paper, she was a victim of circumstance. Summer Weeds and Ring Me flew the lids to record subsonic first sectionals: unfortunately, Summer Weeds has shown a tendency to run off on the corners, and she took Ring Me as collateral on that occasion. Ring Me has trialled sharply leading into this run, and she's drawn terrifically with a wide runner outside her and a slow beginner inside. If she finds the lead, she's capable of breaking their hearts mid-race and holding on for a statement victory.

Two intriguing heats of the Life Members Maiden kick off a spectacular night of chasing, and Michael Boody will be aiming to get on the board early. Chipped Penny will fly the flag on debut for the Sennachie x New Abode litter. New Abode was only a fair racer, but she's been a super producer with the likes of Love You Peaches, Blue Jeans Talk and More Peaches hailing from her. Both heats lack depth with the exposed dogs offering little to nothing thus far. Chipped Penny will have had her fair share of education on this circuit, and given she's been kept safe for this series, it leads one to believe the intentions will be to take it out. From the low draw, she can hop straight on the arm and prove hard to run down.

Best Value: Sorrento Breeze (Race 6)
Sorrento Breeze appears well over the odds in the Best 8 race. She was super five starts back when leading all of the way in a slick 23.50 from the red box. Since then, she has failed to run into the placings, but has had a lot of excuses. You can forgive her run over the 510m as she hasn't fired over the longer distance. Assessing her recent starts, she was about to hit top gear two back before being caught in the backlash. Last start, she was half a step slow from the inside and was gobbled up by the outside speed. Now, from box eight, she's drawn where she wants to be as she'll get to the middle or outside down the back. Given clean air, she could just steal this race at a huge price.
