Pollard lands Rockhampton double with Scarsdale, Mark Sure Can
Scarsdale improved on his debut time when saluting in the Rockhampton Maiden 1000 Final on Wednesday night.
The Christine Pollard-trained chaser lined up in the 407m maiden final as the +160 race favourite with top online bookmakers.
Jumping from box three, he punched through to lead and gave the field something to chase, with Sweet Valentine (+200) settling in second place.
Around the final corner, Scarsdale put in the kick to draw away and then ran on to beat Chipped Penny (+1300) by four-and-a-half-lengths in 23.52.

The winning time improved on the 23.98 clocked when stepping out on his debut on October 18, when he beat Botticelli by three-and-a-quarter lengths.
Scarsdale hails from a 2021 litter of five out of Bossy Miss Bella and by Fernando Bale, with brothers Educator (5:4-0-0) and Edgewood (4:3-1-0) performing greatly around the Rockhampton track.
The Pollard kennel recorded a winning double on the 12-race card, with Mark Sure Can continuing his purple patch with a 10th-straight win.
Jumping from the green box, the +110 race favourite started brilliantly to get to the lead and would not be stopped, beating home Little Spyro (+900) by four-and-three-quarter lengths in 23.42.
