Sandown Greyhounds Tips & Betting Preview April 3rd 2014 – Part Two

Race 7 – 595M Grade 5 Heat – 9:11PM

Jewel Bale made her middle distance debut at last Saturday. She was posted wide throughout but continued to hit the line before going down by a neck in slick time. Tonight she should find herself near the lead in the early stages and I expect her to be running time on the .

Campaspe Will is a highly exciting youngster who looks superbly drawn. His only knock is that he isn't the most reliable beginner. Like I stated earlier, good box manners are required for the bend starts. If he does step he should probably win but you will be asked to take even money for him to step cleanly.

Premier Event and Oxley Major look to be the only other winning hopes, include in the exotics. Premier Event has the speed to lead but the last 50 metres is a big concern.

Top Four :    5 – 1 – 6 – 8

Suggested Bet: Jewel Bale to win with Sportingbet.

Race 8 – 515M Free For All – 9:35PM

The classy Marcus Joe looked highly impressive in his 29.34 all the way win here recently. He should have sufficient speed to roll to the early lead and there doesn't appear to be any chaser in this field who can reel him in.

Mepunga Melachi is racing in career best form at present. He will be relying heavily on luck but he is armed with a barnstorming finish. Given a clear run early he looks to be the main danger to Marcus Joe.

Evie's Entity is ultra consistent, however she does look better suited to a rails draw. There is a fair amount of early speed underneath her tonight and she may have trouble crossing. Great Spartacus looks to be another hope in the race.

Top Four :    2 – 4 – 3 – 6

Suggested Bet: Marcus Joe to win. Great bet to load up on at Sportsbet with the $250 free bet.

Trifecta: 2,3,4/2,3,4/Field ($36 for $1)

Trifecta: 2,4/2,4/Field ($12 for $1)

Race 9 – 515M Grade 4 – 9:55PM

Wise Ella looked highly impressive when scoring a brilliant 34.13 win here recently over 595m. Tonight she drops back to a more suitable distance and in a race which doesn't appear to have a whole lot of early speed, she should get every chance to lead and score another metropolitan win.

Dyna Filbert loves to scrape the paint in his races and from the red draw tonight he should be able to settle a lot closer to the speed than normal. Dyna Filbert showed tremendous mid race speed in his sub 30 win last time and appears to be the main danger.

Tick Bale definitely has the class edge in this affair, but with a speedy beginner drawn outside he is likely to find himself strung up in early traffic again. Omar Gee must be given some hope also as he can run time on the lure.

Top Four :    6 – 1 – 2 – 5

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 6/1,2,5/1,2,3,4,5,8 ($15 for $1)

Trifecta: 1,6/1,2,6/1,2,3,4,5,6,8 ($20 for $1)

Quinella: 6 to rove with 1,2,5

Race 10 – 595M Grade 5 Heat – 10:14PM

Duchess Bale was never out of trouble here last week, tonight she has a very slow beginner drawn outside her and she should be able to avoid early bother. She has only had eight starts to date but she has recorded four brilliant wins so far. At around the $4.00 mark she looks to be enormous value.

Smart should be pressuring Duchess Bale early and he should be in the mix throughout. If anything was to happen to Duchess Bale in the early stages, this bloke will get his chance to win. With the favourite drawn in box eight, you should be able to back both of these for a profit.

Hello Good Bye returned to his best at last week and he has his favourite box again. My biggest concern is that in five tries over this trip he is yet to salute.

Top Four :    3 – 5 – 4 – 8

Suggested Bet: Back both Duchess Bale and Smart Maxwell for the win, also take some quinellas, Duchess Bale to rove with 1,4,5,8.

Race 11 – 595M Grade 5 Heat – 10:38PM

In a very open race, I have on three possible winning chances. The strongest chance looks to be Speed Lane. In recent starts she has been leading for most of the race over much longer journeys. Tonight if she can step like she has been of late she should once again find the early lead and prove hard to reel in over this more suitable trip.

is the likely favourite and if given a clear run throughout he is the likely winner, however from the wide draw his poor box manners are likely to give him major problems. At the short odds I think he is worth risking tonight.

Nockabout Aussie is the blowout chance. Blessed with loads of talent, he just needs a little room to move in the first 50 metres and he will make his presence felt.

Top Four :    3 – 4 – 7 – 8

Suggested Bet: Win bets on both Speed Lane and Nockabout Aussie, have more on Speed Lane.

Race 12 – 515M Grade 5 – 10:58PM

The last race is probably the most open event on the night with at least six winning chances. I'm looking for a bit of value and I think we can find it with Sky Fighter. Normally a reliable beginner, he should have enough speed to cross the inside two and if left in front he should get the cash. He should be around the $6.00 mark, which is a nice way to finish the night.

Tiggerlong Chief is another who is likely to settle on the speed. His recent runs have been a tad disappointing, however I think he is suited in this class tonight and he has the favourable draw.

Dyna Geldof and Humphrey Bale are the two likely favourites. There is a fair bit of speed in this event and I think from the inside draws they may find themselves buried a long way back in the early stages.

Top Four :    3 – 8 – 7 – 2

Suggested Bet: Win bets on both Sky Fighter and Tiggerlong Chief (both should be $4.50 and above).

Quaddies:

1,3,4,5,8/8/1,5/2,3,4,6,7 ($50 for $1)

3,4,5/8/1,5/2,3,4,6,7 ($30 for $1)

3,4/3,6,8/1,5,6,8/2,3,4,6,7 ($60 for 50c)
