The Meadows greyhound tips & value bets – Saturday, April 9
The Sky Racing Restricted Win Final looks to be the race of the night at The Meadows on Saturday night, kicking the quaddie off in race five. Mark Delbridge plays a keen hand with two runners engaged, while exciting pup Mumbo Alarm goes around again for Anthony Karabitsakos. Mighty Pie for Brad Sands has the early pace and will be hard to catch if crosses and leads from box seven. Racing commences at 6:53pm AEST, while quaddie starts at 7:57pm.
BEST BET: RUST BUCKET
Aaron Debattista prepares this one who is ready to take the next step in town after two mighty wins at Shepparton and Bendigo in recent weeks. Of his three starts to date, Rust Bucket has won easily both times from the red box after showing excellent early pace. The greyhound on his outside in box five (Taste The Gold) has a solid burst after boxrise so he will have to start well again to win this. The son of Zambora Brockie x Xtreme Notice scored in the best of the day in just his second start and then followed that up almost doing it again at Bendigo, falling .01 of a second short. Forget his first start at Shepparton when second. He was checked on that occasion and he arguably should have won that too.

Jason Thompson's black and white bitch has a tremendous record boasting 22 wins from 38 starts. She won two in a row recently from this draw at Dubbo and Temora, just weeks after scoring at this track/distance in 29.74 of February 19. She has had a three week freshen up after returning from New South Wales and that would have done her the world of good as she was a little flat last start (7th) after starting poorly. She has raced in Group company on two occasions and although this is a quality field, she may appreciate the drop in grade and having more room out in box eight. She has a tremendous record from the pick and we expect the punters to back her in late.
BEST VALUE: KRAKEN SKYE
Society Icon is the one to beat in this event but we think Kraken Skye will be the value play after battling on well for third at Shepparton last start after recovering from a check. Her Horsham win on March 4 was excellent when winning over the 410m, and her fifth here back in December was solid when only just being overrun for a place in the last 50m. Most of her form is over shorter distances but we are relying on her to ping the lids and settle in the top two in this one. She can find trouble in her races, so it is a “take on trust” call with this one. A vacant box on her inside helps!
