Wentworth Park greyhound tips, best odds & quaddie | January 12
Wentworth Park will host 11 races this Friday night, with the first race to commence at 7.20pm local time. It will be Group 1 racing at its finest, with heats of the time-honoured age classics, the National Derby and National Futurity. There are five heats of the Derby to be decided and four of the Futurity on what is one of the best nights of greyhound racing in NSW. As always, Australian Racing Greyhound will try to help find you a winner or two.
Race 2: Good Odds Cobber (1)
In the first Derby heat, Goods Odds Cobber comes up with the gun rails draw, and that should be enough to see him advance to next week’s final. He is coming into this off the back of a superb Group 2 campaign in Gosford. He has only had two starts at Wenty Park for two wins and has the same record off box one and is trained by one of Australia’s finest duos, Frank and Mary Hurst. He will need to produce near his best as none of these heats are easy and there are some very talented dogs engaged, but expect him to use his box well and win this opening heat.

Race 3: Morton (4)
There is no doubt Morton is one of best greyhounds in training at present. He was third in the Group 1 Silver Chief in Victoria, before heading North to Albion Park to win the Group 1 Queensland Derby in sizzling time. He has drawn very awkwardly in box four, but he has an extremely slow beginner drawn under him which may just see him get the room he needs early to accelerate to the front of this field. He has won 11 of 17 races overall and has another 5 placings to boot. If he handles the tight Glebe circuit, he will definitely be running the hands off the clock and it will be interesting to see what time he can run if he leads.

Race 7: Ritza Debra (4)
In a tricky race, Ritza Debra was our best bet last week before getting squeezed up early and falling. If she has taken no ill effects from the fall, then there is no reason she can’t bounce back in this first heat of the Futurity. She needs that little bit of room early, and whilst awkwardly drawn in the same box from which she fell last week, the dogs drawn under her aren’t the fastest early, and if they stay in their lanes, they may allow Debra the room she needs. She has five wins from nine starts here and six wins from ten starts overall, and with a touch of luck, she will progress to the final next week.
