Wentworth Park greyhound preview, racing tips & odds | 13/1/24

Wentworth Park betting tips for January 13
This Saturday night is as good as it gets at , as there are 10 of the best races you will see set down for decision. The first race will start at 6.20pm. The Heats of the 1 Paws of Thunder are the main drawcard, but there is also a staying event and the final of the Bulli to Wenty Series. As always, Australian Racing Greyhound will try to find you a winner or two.

Race 6: Isle of Rose (3)

comes back to Wentworth Park after a successful campaign in Victoria, winning the Group 2 Laurels Classic. She has raced here at Wenty on four occasions for three wins and has never drawn box three in her 14-race career. It's a Group 1 heat, so nothing will be easy, but she has the form on the board coming into this. She will need to be able to match motors early with some quality greyhounds like last year's Futurity winner Idolise and Quantifiable, but if she can hold them to the first turn, she will show her class, and it will be interesting to see what time she clocks.

Race 8: Zipping Novak (4)

Zipping Novak had been sensational since returning from a let-up, winning two sprints at Richmond before heading up to Gosford for the Group 2 and destroying the eventual winner of the final in the heats in a 29.03 by 7.5 lengths. He was unfortunately scratched from the final, which begs the question: is he fit for this? The fact that master mentor has nominated him suggests he will be right, and if he shows anything like the form that he showed in Gosford, he will destroy this field too. He already has a flying 29.47 personal best here and has won nine races on this track. With the vacant box underneath him and a slow beginner outside him, he should be setting the time standard for the heats. If he is 100% fit.

Race 9: My Heburn (1)

This girl has a ton of early pace and will lead this race. She recently competed in the Group 2 Gosford Cup series, where she won her heat impressively before leading in the final only to run third. Her last start here was another third in a flying final, and she deserves a change of luck. If she can run a quick enough time out in front, the rest just won't be able to catch her. She has had 16 runs here at Wenty for four wins and eight placings and is four from seven from the red rug. She isn't strong at the end of 520m which is the concern, but at the odds, she is worth a ticket as she may be able to lead and hold them off.
