Wentworth Park Greyhounds Tips & Betting Preview April 4th 2014 – Part One

Race 1 – 720M Special Event – 7:19PM

I think the enigmatic Cawbourne Looney can kick start the night for everyone on a quality night of racing. With a smaller field engaged. which will definitely suit, she has the advantage of the good draw. Although she can be very hit and miss, tonight she should get every chance to muster speed early and if she can find the she will be running sub 42 seconds, which will see her get the cash.

railer Suits Us is another who looks well placed in this affair. His last win came from the rails draw and he was desperately unlucky here last week when beaten in record time. He was probably going to finish within five lengths of the leader which makes it a very respectable run.

Folk Tails is expected to get a long way back early but based on her consistent form of late she must be included in the exotics. The rest of the field is made up of front runners who are all suspect at the journey.

Top Four :            8 – 1 – 7 – 4

Suggested Bet: If you can get $2.20 or better, load up on Cawbourne Looney at Sportsbet with the $250 free bet.

Race 2 – 520M Mixed 4/5 – 7:36PM

Swans Mavis was airborne early here last week when recording 5.38 to the first marker before scoring a brilliant sub 30 win. With smart beginner Another Sprite drawn directly underneath, she should be able to follow across and take over control soon after. It's not an overly strong race, so if she can settle in the first two it is hard to see anything beating her.

Tricky Pluto is likely to be the equal favourite with Swan's Mavis. The rails draw should suit however he has been slow to begin in his past four starts. If he can avoid some early bother he should fill the quinella spot, however I think he is a big risk

Another Sprite should be testing Swan's Mavis early on but the last 50 metres is the big concern. Based on this she looks to be a place hope at best.

Top Four :            4 – 1 – 3 – 8

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 1,4/1,3,4,8/1,2,3,4,5,8 ($$24 for $1)

Trifecta: 1,4/1,4/2,3,5,8 ($8 for $1)

Race 3 – 520M Special Event Heat – 7:57PM

I think we may be able to find some value in this event. Oscar Keeping has been very unlucky in his recent runs. He should be around the $4.50 mark and although drawn very poorly, I think he can avoid early bother and run over the top of them late in the race. He is capable of running brilliant times and just needs luck.

Classy Sahara has been in ultra consistent form recently and although lucky last start, she looked very impressive in her 29.81 win here. If she can step on terms, she should muster to the early lead and prove very hard to reel in.

Outside of the two fancies, there are a number of chances to fill the minor end. Leica Destiny will settle on the speed and should be in it for a long way. Bouchard is likely to be in the market, however I feel that she may need a run or two at the track before she can show her best at this venue.

Top Four :            6 – 7 – 1 – 2

Suggested Bet: Oscar Keeping to win with Sportingbet.

Race 4 – 520M Special Event Heat – 8:19PM

Queenslander Farmer's Gold couldn't have asked for a more suitable race when making his debut. He has scored some sizzling wins at in his brief career to date and he is sure to have derived lots of benefit from his effort there last week when resuming from a short spell. If you can get $3.00 or better, load up.

Invictive has won four races over this journey and from the pink draw she should get plenty of room to muster speed in the early stages. Her last 40 metres can be suspect at times, but when she does lead she can plug on for a little longer.

Zola Icon is another front runner and she has enough speed to hold them out. She lacks the class to win this but she can hold on for a minor spot. Jorelle is very hit and miss. To win this event she must lead and I think it is unlikely.

Top Four :            3 – 8 – 1 – 7

Suggested Bet: Win bet on Farmer's Gold. Take advantage of the numerous free bets on offer.

Race 5 – 520M Special Event Heat – 8:36PM

Cawbourne Whip is much better than her recent form suggests. In tonight's event she is likely to go around at the $4.00 mark or better and if she can begin well, I think it's great value. In late December of last year she won here in a smart 29.98 and a repeat of that would see her go very close again.

Irondale Bravo is clearly the most talented in the field, however she is having her first start at this venue and her box manners need a lot of improvement. The empty draw underneath will suit, but I still think she is worth risking at the shorter odds.

Fashion Princess seems to have lost her confidence of late but from her good draw she may be able to settle on the speed early and run a better race. She should be around the $6.00 mark and it may be worth having a small saver bet on her.

Top Four :            4 – 1 – 6 – 7

Suggested Bet:  Win bets on Cawbourne Whip and Fashion Princess, have more on Cawbourne Whip.
