Wentworth Park tips and best bets

There are 10 races on the card for the Saturday night spectacular that is greyhound racing at Wentworth Park this week. We have a few very competitive fifth-grade races to enjoy, along with the finals of the bitches' and dogs' heats that were run here last week. There is also a free-for-all worthy of a final, and a very nice fourth/fifth grade. Hopefully, we can steer you into a couple of quality winners.

BEST BET: She's A Pearl (Race 4)

What can you say about the current Winx of greyhound racing? She has only tasted defeat once in her last 19 starts, and that includes a series and a series. She has amassed $1.35 million in prizemoney, and it was a surprise to see her back after it was suggested she was going for a well-deserved break. She will start a short-priced favourite, but she deserves to, and while this is a quality free-for-all, every starter here will need to lead to win and there is not a faster dog in the country than She's A Pearl at present. The danger – if there is any, to be honest – might be Asiram, who is looking like a genuine top-liner and starting to finish his races off really strongly. But it's doubtful there is any dog can give ‘The Flying Pearl' a start and a beating.

NEXT BEST BET: Diamond Ability (Race 10)

This daughter of x Anastasia has only had the three starts for new trainer Brett May since transferring to NSW from the kennels in Victoria. She has sizzled around twice before coming to town to sizzle for 515m before being run down by a strong one in Impress Dressel in her first look at Headquarters, and with that run under her belt she will be further improved. She really did nothing wrong that night, and it is easy to see her showing her customary speed from this box (she has a good record from outside boxes) and leading this field through the first turn. If that happens, there is no Impress Dressel to run her down tonight. The danger is the dog immediately drawn outside her, Black Fox, who usually shows good early pace and may ping the lids and come in on , potentially crowding her out.

BEST VALUE BET: Spots Like Forty (1)

In what will be an open race, there might be a nice value bet on . She was having only here first look here last week when third to , but she can begin much better than that. Being drawn down on the rails here could help this girl immensely. With natural improvement on the track with her second look here, and without any early pace in the race, she might be able to punch up along the inside rail to lead at the first turn. The danger is Springview Hawk, who is the class runner and will probably start favourite, and while he will appreciate the nice class drop, he is not that quick early and box 5 might be a real concern for him.
