Wentworth Park betting tips

With all the fireworks and celebrations in and around the wonderful city of Sydney for the ringing in of the New Year, have moved their Saturday night meeting to Friday night this week and as usual there is a wealth of greyhound talent on display.

The highlight is the Incapacitated at stud final and a staying race worthy of a listed or group final. Ten races are set down to be decided and we hope to end the year sharing with you a few of those winners and from all here at Australian Racing Greyhound have a safe, happy and prosperous New Year.

Best Bet – #1 Cawbourne Magic (Race 7)

It is impossible to go against this rising staying superstar. Jodie and Andy Lord have this son of Fernando Bale and Cawbourne Ruby absolutely flying for long-time owner and breeder Stuart Dickinson. He has won nine of his last ten starts and the only defeat was an unlucky second in a Group One final at Sandown. He gave Mepunga Ruby about six lengths last week and mowed her down easily. He has a sensational record from the inside draw having four wins and three placings from eight attempts and maps to get a lovely run into the first turn as his kennel mate (whom we love here at ARG) will skirt wide and give him all the room he needs early. Not sure he will be much value, but he will win and will be a dog you can anchor your multis and quaddie through.

Danger: If there is one, it has to be Mepunga Ruby for Jeff Britton. This little girl gives her everything every time she goes around and again tonight she will lead and give you a great sight if you back her, but she will just be a sitting shot for the power of unless he finds trouble.

Next Best Bet – #1 Numb (Race 1)

Lakis Michael is not a name everyone in the greyhound industry will know, but he generally has a very small and exclusive team racing in the south of the state and he has got his hands on another very promising young greyhound here in Numb. About to turn two, Numb is the daughter of Fernando Bale and Lakis' good bitch Sweet Nangar who herself went 29.8 secs around here in 2019. She has been low flying at recently where she won four in a row before being narrowly beaten there on Boxing Night in the best time of the night. She has an above average early turn of pace and from box one tonight, she will need it to hold the rails and scoot away around the first turn. She has a good record from box one and has a career record of five wins and nine placing from seventeen starts.

Danger: Yarramundi Paul. A South Australian visitor, who has worked through his grades nicely at and was contesting low grades and free for all before heading for the summer. Has shown pace in his races and could be a surprise packet at odds in this race.

Best Value Bet – #6 Red Hot Frankie (Race 6)

Another favourite dog of ours and this little girl had a bit of a break recently with just a 300m race at before coming out and leading a good field and just running out of condition last week. We are willing to forgive her for that. She is much better suited back into a fourth and fifth grade event after tackling the non-graded races after dominating the fifth grade ranks here. She was left out in front with a very strong dog Palawa King chasing her. She will have taken so much in terms of fitness from that run and expect that she will lead this field again despite the awkward draw. There is no Palawa King in this race and she may even get a bit of cover tonight. She was sent out at very short odds last week, but the odds makers may well take a chance on her on Friday and she may well be the best value bet on the program.

Best Roughie Bet – #2 Agent Aspen (Race 2)

has returned from a four month break with two wins and a second from her three starts and each time has stepped up in grade and distance. She has only had one chance here at headquarters and that was in a very tough and unsuitable free for all race off an awkward draw. She is relatively untried from inside boxes having only had box one twice for a win and a second and never having had box two in her nineteen race starts. She has won a heat and semi of the Thousands maiden series so she definitely has talent. She can show good pace in her races and you know she will run the 500m right out and has been sort of forgotten in this race. Hopefully she will get out to double figure odds by start time, and she can give us a big sight at odds.
